Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Mice “Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are, ‘it might have been’…”
This week the first book that sprang to mind was Mice and Men – but, in spite of the title I’m not sure there are any mice on the covers. I knew there were mice on the cover of Hitchhikers Guide but the book that really jumped out to me was Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

Next week – Moon
Future themes:
02/06/2017 – Moon “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”
09/06/2017 – Mummy “It shuffles through the dry, dusty darkness”
16/06/2017 – Guitar “You couldn’t not like someone who liked the guitar”
23/06/2017 – Cat “In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this”
30/06/2017 – Hat “It is always cruel to laugh at people, of course, although sometimes if they are wearing an ugly hat it is hard to control yourself “
07/07/2017 – Gold “All that is gold does not glitter”
14/07/2017 – Boats “The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea, in a beautiful pea green boat…”
21/07/2017 – Planet “Any planet is ‘Earth’ to those who live on it”
I agree, and I loved that header quote; just lovely!
Thanks 😀
I had stopped crying over that book and now you bring it up again. Sigh, more tears a coming.
Sorry about that 😦 It is such a very excellent book though – *runs for hankies*
I like the cover you picked as well. Oh Lynn now I’m going to cry because I’m remembering how much this book makes me cry!
I know. But such a good book.
Lynn 😀
I will join the collective sniffling here: the quote you chose for the title is more than heart-wrenching….
Such a good book though. I loved it.
Lynn 😀
I really love that cover too – though I do love the ink blot! I haven’t even read this yet – though it seems crying is the likely outcome if I do!
It’s a great story – very emotional though.
Lynn 😀

That’s a great one that you picked! I also love the first one with the blue maze on red though. I also ought to read this book at some point 🙂
I like all three of these covers but I have a soft spot for SF Masterworks, or so it seems.
Lynn 😀
Ha ha! SNAP – I chose the same book. The covers would not be denied… I loved the same one that you selected as your favourite – the blue cover is beautiful:).
I had a couple that came to mind but I always intended to go with this one tbh.
Lynn 😀
As soon as I came across the covers, it was a no-brainer for me, too:)
I haven’t read this book, but I think this is a tough toss up between the mouse and maze idea of the first and last cover, which you choose. While I prefer the bright colours in the first cover, I think it is pretty cool that the maze is made of circuit boards in your winner. Actually I have the SF Masterworks cover for Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, that is cool as well to be fair.
I love the SF Masterworks covers – well, usually I do anyway! 😀
