Every Tuesday over at The Broke and Bookish we all get to look at a particular topic for discussion and use various (or more to the point ten) examples to demonstrate that particular topic. This week’s topic is:
Summer Reads Freebie
Basically my summer reads are the next upcoming list of books waiting on my shelves. In the spirit of holidays, beaches and generally chilling with an easygoing read I’ve looked through my upcoming books and come up with the following:
- All Good Things by Emma Newman
- The Space Between the Stars by Emma Corlett
- A Kiss Before Doomsday by Laurence MacNaughton
- The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May
- The Clockwork Dynasty by Daniel H Wilson
- Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
- The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman
- The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
- Sea of Rust by Robert Cargill
- The Turn by Kim Harrison
What you looking forward to this Summer?
Yes to the Garcia book. A Kiss before Doomsday looks like it could be funny. And I have been meaning to read May almost since her first book came out.
Definitely a hell yes to the Garcia book – although it sounds very different in style I’m looking forward to it very much.
Lynn 😀
I’m also looking forward to The Rules of Magic and The Beautiful Ones. Sounds like a lovely summer of reading you have planned!
Let’s hope we love both of those. I really am looking forward so very much to both. 😀
Moreno-Garcia’s book keeps making doe eyes at me every time I see it mentioned… 🙂 and after the amazing read that Certain Dark Things was, I’m not surprised.
And I’ve started reading Sea of Rust these days (thanks to your recommendation!!!) and it looks very, very promising.
How exciting – can’t wait to see your review for that one. I’ve not started it yet but I love the cover and the blurb.
Lynn 😀
I haven’t made any definite choices on books yet, but I am hoping to take part in the 10 Books of Summer challenge again this year. Happy summer reading 🙂
You too Jessica – lots hope for lots of good reads.
Lynn 😀
I love your list of summer reads – I’ve just completed The Space Between the Stars and really enjoyed it – and I’ve also got the Sea of Rust. I’m soooo jealous that you’ve got hold of The Fallen Kingdom – I was refused an arc for that one, sadly… This looks an awesome list and as ever, Lynn – I come away from your site hankering after yet more books!
Did you go to Edelweiss for your ARC – I find that I have some luck on there (although I do really well on NG tbh and it’s my go to site)? I can’t believe you would be declined – your blog is so popular!
Lynn 😀
No, I only use Netgalley – and to be honest, I’m not tempted. It’s bad enough keeping my book vice under control with just one free review site…
I understand completely – I only have these two sites that I use and it is difficult to marry the two sometimes.
Lynn 😀
Ooh these all sound and look so good! I hope you enjoy them! 🙈
Thanks – me too 😀
I have so many books on this list on my summer tbr as well – Doomsday, Clockwork Dynasty, Beautiful Ones, The Space Between Stars…oh, and I probably should get caught up on the Split Worlds!
I don’t read a lot of beach style books but I think most of these fit the theme somehow. Definitely looking forward to quite a few of them.
Lynn 😀
Your list totally rocks. I had a completely horror list because I don’t read a ton of what I consider books which normally are considered beachy reads. I need to get my hands on Sea of Rust and Beautiful Ones as well. However, I’m afraid that I loved Certain Dark Things so much that I will be disappointed with this one.
Yeah, I know what you mean, I don’t read a lot of traditional style beach reads but I thought this list was a bit ‘lighter’ than my grimdark blood and guts type books. I hope that Beautiful Ones is good – I loved Certain Dark Things so I’m really keen to find out how this compares.
Lynn 😀
I’ve been resisting The Beautiful Ones because I haven’t yet read Signal to Noise, but I look forward to your comments to persuade me I’m making a terrible mistake and should read both 😉
I hope that you enjoy Signal to Noise too – I am also happy to be convinced.
Lynn 😀
Meddling Kids looks so good, and of course the title sucks me in immediately! Major Scooby fan here, haha.
I know – who can resist ‘those pesky kids!’
Lynn 😀
Meddling Kids and Sea of Rust are at the top of my list, too.
And they both have such excellent covers too. 😀
[…] before the end of 2017. I just highlighted a number of my upcoming reads for the beach read post so I’ve gone for some different releases that I’m also very eager to check […]
