Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Phone “Don’t use the phone. People are never ready to answer it”
I thought this was going to be tough – but, a book immediately sprang to mind for this one. A very unusual and creepy tale involving a witchy haunting: Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt:

I’m not overly fond of the title font although there is a good reason behind the choice. I like the colour, I think there’s plenty to lead the eye and then upon closer inspection you will notice the ghostly looking face towards the top of the cover.
Which is your favourite?
Next week – Plane
Future themes:
19/05/2017 – Plane “When everything seem to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it ….”
26/05/2017 – Mice “Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are, ‘it might have been’…”
02/06/2017 – Moon “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”
09/06/2017 – Mummy “It shuffles through the dry, dusty darkness”
16/06/2017 – Guitar “You couldn’t not like someone who liked the guitar”
23/06/2017 – Cat “In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this”
30/06/2017 – Hat “It is always cruel to laugh at people, of course, although sometimes if they are wearing an ugly hat it is hard to control yourself “
07/07/2017 – Gold “All that is gold does not glitter”
14/07/2017 – Boats “The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea, in a beautiful pea green boat…”
21/07/2017 – Planet “Any planet is ‘Earth’ to those who live on it”
I’ve got that cover and it really is a stunning looking cover, gets my vote too! 🙂
Thanks Drew. 😀
I haven’t read Hex yet but I’m curious about it. It was actually nominated at our book club, not selected but nominated. Looks deliciously creepy.
It’s definitely unusual. I enjoyed it. It’s like a witch haunting.
Lynn 😀
I haven’t read this book but I have seen it in shops with the cover you’ve chosen as your favourite, which I would I agree it my favourite too; its atmospheric 🙂
It’s a creepy book – more a haunting but with a difference.
Lynn 😀
I like this one, Lynn – I don’t think you’ve got a dud in this selection and while I agree with your choice, it ran a very tight second to the cover featuring the phone, simply because I really liked the novelty of it and the title being so intrigingly tilted. My selection is a police procedural whodunit… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/05/12/friday-faceoff-dont-leave-me-hanging-on-the-telephone/
I like the cover with the phone – but you know why I didn’t pick it – I zoomed in and I didn’t think the face on the phone cover was creepy enough!
Lynn 😀
love that cover.
It’s quite spooky with the face in the background.
Lynn 😀
That’s a spooky cover. Might be my favorite too although I also like the first and third ones, even though they’re not as scary looking.
I like the first one too. That was my second choice.
Lynn 😀
I had a hard time coming up with a book for this week’s theme, which is why I skipped. Oh why didn’t I think of HEX?! And I’m with you, none of those really jump up at me.
Yeah, though to make a choice this week.
Lynn 😀
