WhiteRabbitWhite rabbits everyone.

We’re in to the fifth month of the year already – I can hardly believe it.  Hope you all had a great April.  Here’s my month in review (boy oh boy do I have a few reviews to catch up with):

Books read: (with links to reviews)

  1. Borrowed Souls by Chelsea Mueller – review to follow
  2. Path of Flames by Phil Tucker
  3. Skullsworn by Brian Staveley
  4. The Moonlight War by SKS Perry – review to follow
  5. Avengers of the Moon by Allen Steele – review to follow
  6. Assassin’s Charge by Claire Frank – review to follow
  7. Damnation by Peter McLean – review to follow
  8. The White Road by Sarah Lotz – review to follow

Some very good reading this month – I particularly enjoyed Tucker/Staveley and Lotz.  My month in covers is here.

Backlist books

None this month – I”m not saying anything about plans and blah de blah just because!

Unfinished series completed:

None this month – however, this month saw the completion of the Self Published Fantasy Blog Off.

Books Bought:

  1. The Exiled Heir by Jonathan French – I enjoyed his Grey Bastards so much that I thought I’d check his other work
  2. Within the Sanctuary of Wings by Marie Brennan (this is the last of the series – which means I can now read the last two back to back.  Happy days.

Diana, thank you – I hope your May is a wonderful month too 😀

  2. Tammy

Sounds like you had a pretty good month! I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Borrowed Souls. I started it about a week ago, just to see what the writing was like, and it seemed like it was going to be hard to get into??

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, I thought it was a quick read but I had a number of niggles that stopped me from loving it. It could just be first book in series syndrome but I definitely had niggles.
      Lynn 😀

I need to catch up on the Lady Trent Chronicles – I’ve read two of them, but LOVED them so far. I’ve also got The Space Between the Stars, so am looking forward to reading it:).

    • @lynnsbooks

Yay – I’m looking forward to that one – it sound quite different.
      Lynn 😀

Every time I see the Lady Trent series, my heart skips a beat. I just know that I’m going to love this series & now that it’s complete I can binge read them all *whoop whoop* Looks like you had a great reading month, happy reading in April! 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I actually had a good reading and terrible at reviewing month. I will catch up though now (hopefully). Hope you enjoy the Lady Trent books.
      Lynn 😀

ummmm I can totally understand how that goes LOL! *looks at backlog of reviews* I’m slowly catching up as well. Thank you Lynn 😉

      • @lynnsbooks

Reading is just so addictive that before you know it you’ve read 6/7 books and not reviewed a single one – whoops!

      • LairOfBooks

        😂😂😂my current situation

  5. maddalena@spaceandsorcery

Rotherweird’s is the review I’m most looking forward to, since the story possesses a certain… well… weird appeal 😀
And I need to start on the Lady Trent series: every time I see it mentioned I keep staring at the dragons and asking myself what I’m waiting for!

    • @lynnsbooks

It is such a beautiful set of books that you’d just want to have them all lined up on your shelves really. I’m both looking forward to and feeling slightly wary of Rotherweird – part of me just hopes it’s what I have in my mind and part of me is dreading it won’t be. Time will tell though and I’m going to go into the read without prejudging – and also by staying away from any other reviews because I really don’t know what to expect.
      Lynn 😀

The Lady Trent books are so good! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! I also can’t wait to start The White Road! Might have to leap frog that one ahead of some other books on my tbr 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

I have the last two Lady Trent books now so hoping to get to them both soon (I’d forgotten I’d even bought the 4th!)
The Lotz was so good, I was totally gripped and actually can’t wait to write my review for that one.
      Lynn 😀

Good luck up catching up with your back log of reviews – I have a few to catch up with too. I particularly look forward to your thoughts on Assassin’s Charge by Claire Frank. And, I have to agree the covers for the Lady Trent series are gorgeous! Happy reading in May 🙂

  8. Barb (boxermommyreads)

I’m loving that rabbit. I loved a lot of things about Alice in Wonderland – except Alice herself. Always felt she was too whiny. I managed to grab the four Lady Trent hardbacks from Book Outlet a few months ago. I spent less that 15.00 on them all together. Now I just need to watch for the last one – oh and make time to read them!

    • @lynnsbooks

Woah – great bargain, they’re such a lovely set of books. I hope you manage to find time for them eventually – although my own books always seem to take a back seat.
      Lynn 😀

  9. Danya @ Fine Print

I loved Broken Souls so I’m eager to see your take on that one! Owl and the Electric Samurai is sure to be a fun one, too. 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I’m just reading Owl and so far enjoying it. The Mueller book – I had mixed feelings of (I know you loved it) but I had little niggles that once they’d taken hold wouldn’t let go. Derek was a nice piece of mind candy though 😀
