Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
18th November – The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day – a cover with stormy weather
For the theme this week I’ve chosen: Storm Front by Jim Butcher (#The Dresden Files). (I confess I struggled with this theme!)
and my winner:
I think it suits the theme and the weather in the background looks very gloomy to say the least.
Which is your favourite??
If you fancy joining in with the FFO the themes for the next few weeks are below.
25th November – As old as the hills?? – A cover with mountains
2nd December – Oranges and lemons say the bells of St Clements – A cover with fruit
9th December – Soul Meets Soul on Lovers’ Lips – a cover with lips
16 December – Give a Girl the Right Shoes and she can conquor the world – a cover with shoes
23rd December – The first noel… – a cover with angels
30th December – Ho ho ho! To the bottle I go… – a cover with drink
Ooohh it’s the second time I have seen this book today and it’s not me for once, yay! 🙂
Yeah – I found this one a tough theme. I found another book but couldn’t find any covers to compare.
Lynn 😀
It was surprisingly tricky, I was lucky in that I had the book I chose waving at me. 😂
Haha – yeah, it does make it easier when one of your books is waving happily! Sometimes I’m such a lazy so and so – I’m sure if I just went and rifled through my shelves I would probably find some really unusual choices – but they’re all so unorganised!
Lynn 😀
The second cover is definitely my favorite, but maybe because it’s just so familiar that I feel such affection for it/him.
I actually like the simplicity of the first cover too though. I like simple covers like that.
Also, now I feel like bouncing back over to Dresden Files and reading the next one in the series. I’m reading them, but as slowly as I can so that maybe by the time I’m caught up the next one will be out soon.
I’m also reading them slowly – in fact I need to check where I’m up to!
Lynn 😀
Ha! I did right after I wrote that last comment. I’m going to read book 10 next! 😀
Ha ha – great minds think alike:). Snap! It’s an ideal choice for the subject, isn’t it?
It was the only one I could think of to be honest – well I thought of one other but it didn’t have any cover choices so had to abandon it.
Lynn 😀
That’s often the snag, isn’t it?
Absolutely – I’ve come up with a couple of books for previous themes and they’ve been absolutely perfect but not had any choice of covers!
Oh, me too!
Part of the fun of the meme I suppose. 😀
Not having read this book I wouldn’t know if it reflects the theme, but I like the cover you’ve chosen and the lightning on the third one.
It was the only one I could think of this week! It was tougher than I expected.
Lynn 😀
The middle is my favorite… I’m a little disappointed in myself for completely forgetting about this book. I even looked through my books to see which ones would fit the theme! Good pick 🙂
No, your book choice was inspired! Some of the covers for Name of the Wind are so lovely – I always like to see them – I just with the third book was somewhere on the horizon! Still, can’t rush genius!
Lynn 😀
Hmm tough choice for this! I love this series but I’ve never really been overly fond of the covers. Guess I’ll have to go with the middle one too 🙂
Same. The covers aren’t my favourites either. But, I’m really not overly fond of the ones with the ripped file style effect. It just gives absolutely nothing away about the story whatsoever.
Lynn 😀
I like the last one.
Yeah – I can see that – it’s quite unusual isn’t it?
Lynn 😀
Wow, that first cover is somewhat bizarre. It looks like the standard cover for a Sherlock Holmes story, haha. I agree with your choice! 🙂
Haha yes it does!
Lynn 😀
