What angel wakes me from my flowery bed?…

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme being hosted by Books by Proxy .   This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple and can be found here.  Each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite (stop on over to Tenacious Reader to post your link so we can all check out each others choices).  Simples.   This week the theme is:

My winner this week is:

I like the gold on black – that being said I had a tough choice between this and the white cover because that guy on the cover looks like he’s super chilled!

Which is your favourite?

If you fancy joining in with FFO the themes for the next few weeks are below.  I’ve listed these as BooksbyProxy is currently a bit swamped and MIA as a result.  Don’t worry, ordinary service will be resumed soon 😀

19th August: “The blood is life… and it shall be mine!”- a cover which features ‘blood’

26th August: I sit here looking out at all I own – A cover featuring a throne.

2nd Sept: Hell is empty and all the devils are here – A cover with a demon or demonic creatures.

9th Sept: Pack up your troubles… and … leave – A cover with some form of luggage

16th Sept: A bouquet for you m’lady – A cover featuring a flower/flowers.

23rd Sept: Wee, sleekit, cow’rin, timorous beastie – A cover with a beast or beasts.

I have to agree with you although I admit, I really had to consider if I like this one better or the third one. I think the green caught my eye and wouldn’t let go. I do own a paperback I found at a used store but like a lot of books, I haven’t read it yet.

Do you know I really didn’t like the third one at first but then when I flipped back to my blog it just kind of started to grow on me a lot more!

A great choice, as ever, Lynn:)). My preference is for the 2nd cover – I really like the cheeky angel with the drink and the red on white is very effective, I think.

Also many, many thanks for putting up the next few weeks’ timetable – SUCH a help!

No worries – also Lisa over at Tenacious Reader is hosting a Friday Firsts post so that you can highlight the first sentence of your current book and say what your first impressions are – and she’s very kindly added a link for the FFO because she also takes part – so I’ll put a note on future ones because if we all link up it’s easier to make sure we catch up with each other – we don’t have to do of course but the offer is there and I quite like the idea.

I think I like the second cover best (by Friday Face Off will go up in a bit – 10AM EST)

    • @lynnsbooks

I did struggle to choose – I like the second one because the angel/devil is cheeky – and he looks like he’s enjoying a nice glass of something red (which hopefully is wine!)

I’m torn between the black and white covers, but I think I have to agree with you – the gold font looks really striking and cool against the black cover!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah – and I kind of like the reversal with the angel on the black cover and the devil on the white one.
      Lynn 😀

  5. Rebecca

Yay! I’m so glad themes are posted because I’ve been wanting to join in on this feature for a few weeks 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

Excellent – we’ll keep the themes updated – hopefully Booksbyproxy will be back in action and will post an updated list but if not I’ll keep adding to this one for now. Also, if you’re joining in stop over and check out Tenacious Reader – I think there’s going to be a link on there so we can all check out each other’s posts (plus another Friday meme called Friday Firsts where you highlight the first sentence of your current read and give your immediate first impressions). Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

It is hard to pick between the black and white cover, but I think the black just pips it as the contrast makes it more striking. My edition also has a black cover however it has a completely different picture.

    • @lynnsbooks

I think that’s why I went for that one – it is striking.
      Lynn 😀

  7. Carmen

Yes, I agree on that one. The angel on the next cover seems more naughty than nice. 😉

  8. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

I am going to cheat and say I like the first two both the same – after all, they seem to be a set!

    • @lynnsbooks

One of the covers is actually split half black and half white – I could have used that one but decided not to – I perhaps should have included it!
      Lynn 😀
