Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme being hosted by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite books’ covers. The rules are fairly simple and can be found here. Each week, following a predetermined theme choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Simples. This week the theme is:
Better a Witty Fool than a Foolish Wit
A cover which features a fool or jester
This wasn’t my first choice but when I saw it I thought it was perfect. The Serpent of Venice by Christopher Moore – which I really loved!:
Two very similar covers – I really like the purple colour scheme but you barely read the title or author. I like the blue cover because that’s the cover I own – but look at the rabbit with the fools hat. OMG no choice the winner is the grinning bunny. Check out this bunny – go on and zoom in!

Next week:
24th June | Armed to the Teeth
A cover which features weapons
That rabbit is awesome with his big cheeky grin! 😊
I think so too – i have no idea what bearing it has on the story though?
Lynn 😀
For once, I have to disagree. That rabbit is just creepy – ugh! I far prefer the middle cover – I’m with you in that the purple colour is fabulous, but the font size is pathetic. But I do love the feel and aura of the middle one – and Christopher Moore is always a roller-coaster read:)
I like the middle cover too because it’s the book I had but the rabbit just really tickles me for some reason. This book was so good – I keep promising myself I’ll read more by Moore just on the strength of it.
Lynn 😀
Hm… I have a patchy relationship with him – some of his books are great. And others I simply can’t get through. I haven’t tried this one, though, and I know our tastes are similar, so I’ll have a go at it.
This is the only book I’ve read by him and, to be honest, I didn’t really think I was going to like it, but it totally won me over. The sense of humour, which can be difficult, made me really laugh and it felt like a really good mash up of a story. I admit that he can be a bit wicked and certainly he doesn’t hold back with the swearing but I just fell for this one.
Lynn 😀
I’ll track it down, then. He can be very funny – but it can tip into just being crass and sweary when he doesn’t get the story right – in my opinion, anyway:)
He was a little bit mmm, ‘near the knuckle’ in places but by then I’d become hooked!
Lynn 😀
lol… having read him, I can believe the ‘near the knuckle’:))
That rabbit is funny but I like the middle cover best.
The middle cover is great – to be fair I would probably prefer the last cover but it’s so odd with the teeny weeny font – what the heck is that all about.
Lynn 😀
I love the rabbit! That would be the one to make me pick up the book!
That rabbit is crazy isn’t it! Made me have a proper laugh.
Lynn 😀
This is one of the Moore books I haven’t picked up so not sure I get the bunny reference but OMG, that bunny is awesome. I would definitely grab that if I saw it on the shelves…of course along with Moore’s name on it – haha.
I read this and i’m really struggling to understand the bunny reference! I did love this book though and the cover just made me lol.
Lynn 😀
I will not be able to look at a rabbit in the same way from now on…. 😀
It’s a crazy bunny!
Lynn 😀
Yes! The bunny cover wins!
It’s got a bit of a creepy smirk when you zoom in – i think that’s probably why I like it!
Lynn 😀
The purple is much too faded a shade, and I was going to say blue in the middle the best, by far, but then I looked at the enlarged photo of the one you chose… and I say that rabbit was smiling XD Okay, you’re right: I pick that one too.
Haha – the rabbit is mad isn’t it! It’s about to join the Mad Hatter.
Lynn 😀
I haven’t read this, though I’m familiar with the author and cover – I can’t believe I didn’t think of this one when I saw theme for this week! I agree with your choice, can’t go wrong with a creepy smiling bunny 🙂
I know right – maybe two creeping smiling bunnies – or would that be overkill!
Lynn 😀
I think the blue cover is the most striking but, like you, I would have to go for the cover with the rabbit on – I am a sucker for a furry animal whether it be in a TV show, advert, film, book or, in this case, cover 😀
That bunny cover is funny – it was so unexpected!
Lynn 😀
I prefer the blue cover.
