Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme being hosted by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite books covers. The rules are fairly simple and can be found here. Each week, following a predetermined theme choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Simples. This week the theme is:
Dead Men Tell No Tales
A cover which features something or somewhere relating to death
This week I’ve gone for The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and a whole bunch of covers to choose from:
So, from the top-
- Very creepy cover with the two characters
- Not sure about this one – bloody knife with a little toddler running along the edge – I understand why – ‘there was a hand in the darkness… and it held a knife’ – very creepy though
- I really like this one – the whole floating graveyard!
- I really like the simplicity of this cover and the angel gravestone
- This is beautifully illustrated, I admit this cover originally made me think this was a children’s book but I really like it now.
- This is the version I own – and I do love it – plus it’s signed!
My favourite this week is difficult to choose but I think I would probably go with this one:

Next week’s theme:
Like One, That on a Lonesome Road
A cover which features a road
You picked the same cover I would have. It is just so creepy looking. My second fave is the one with the Dave McKean illustrations. Nice feature.
I do really like that cover – it has this fairytale, grim, creepyness about it!
Lynn 😀
I am loving The Mummy quote in your title 😀 There are some lovely covers for this book – No.5 is the one I’ve seen the most but I think I prefer like No.6.
Yeah, that’s my book and I have to confess I love it – plus Gaiman has signed it and drawn a little sketch – it’s so good!
Lynn 😀
Figures a book by Gaiman would have like a kajillion covers! I totally agree with your choice, that’s the one I like best too! 🙂
Yeah, Neil Gaiman – his books are translated and sold everywhere! Loads of covers. It’s ace isn’t it!
Lynn 😀
What a cool meme! I really love this idea and seeing all of the different covers for this book is so interesting. I would definitely choose the same one as you as my favourite. It is so visually appealing! ❤
Yeah, I love that cover – you should take part – every Friday.
Lynn 😀
I like the one you chose; I think it’s Tim Burton-esque, but I also like the gray one with the angel on it. It suggests a graveyard as well.
Yeah, I like the gray one too.
Lynn 😀
Some pretty fun ones in there but that’s my favorite too.
I really like the series of book cover that all have the same style as #4. But out of all these, #3 is my fav too 🙂
Here is my post: http://wp.me/p53gyJ-2ZH
Yeah, I also love that style but I love the Burtonish style cover!
Lynn 😀
I love the blue one, although the 3rd with the curly thingies is also nice
but I own the first one – polish edition
ah well
I own the blue one – and I love it. But the curly thingies are also good 😀
Yesss that’s my favourite too for sure! It’s so creepy and yet minimalistic?!? What country is it from? I’m kinda sad it’s not the English edition now. 😛
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
Yeah, I know what you mean – I do love my blue cover but this one is great! I would definitely be drawn to that one.
Lynn 😀

Urgh all these covers are GORGEOUS – I can’t choose! Love the stylistic illustrations they all seem to have. Definitely some fantastic choices for last week 😀
