No.22: Animal Farm by George Orwell
As part of Vintage Sci Fi month being hosted by Little Red Reviewer I’ve given myself a small challenge to post a vintage book each day – one that I’ve read – and to highlight some of the covers. Today’s choice is : Animal Farm by George Orwell. Now this is another one of my choices where I wonder whether I’m stretching the definition of sci fi a little bit. Published in 1945 this is part political allegory and part dystopia – although I don’t think I realised that when I first read it!
First Edition:
1946 Signet – I like this one:
1964 Penguin: that’s a scary cover – reminder not to visit THAT farm!
1982 Penguin: psychedelic much:
1996 Plume Books – I actually really like this one:
2008 Penguin:
You’re doing a great job listing books and telling something about them! Keep it up! 🙂
Thank you 😀
The 1964 cover – those animals look like they ate some really hot chili peppers, lol.
I know – what is going on with that cover!
Except maybe for the first edition, these are ALL great. that’s a first in these posts. curious.
There were a lot of covers for this but I decided to narrow it down! Otherwise this would have been a very LONG post!
Sadly another one I haven’t read! I like the 1996 Plume Books and 2008 Penguin covers.
I read this quite a long time ago – I did find it fascinating to be honest and the ending is very strong.
Lynn 😀
