No.21: Dune by Frank Herbert
As part of Vintage Sci Fi month being hosted by Little Red Reviewer I’ve given myself a small challenge to post a vintage book each day – one that I’ve read – and to highlight some of the covers. Today’s choice is : Dune by Frank Herbert. Published in 1965 this is a work of epic science fiction. To be honest – I like all of these covers!
Check out the first edition:

Two books by Ace 1965:
Gollancz 1966:

1975 by Berkley Medallion:

1982 Hodder – really like this:

2001 Gollancz (rather partial to this one):

2010 Orion – really like this one, it just appeals to me:

2015 Hodder:

I like the 2001 Gollancz one 🙂 Because? Sand worm.
Yeah – Sandworm – so much easier to like it when it’s on a cover and not chasing you down!

Ah, one of my very favorite books! I used to own the 1975 version, but I gave it to a friend and it never came back… The 2010 cover is indeed very intense, I like it very much.
Aww, I like the ’75 cover! The 2010 is awesome though – I would actually really like to have a copy of that one.

I agree all these covers are rather nice I am most drawn to the simplicity of the Gollancz 1966 cover. My dad’s copy has quite a simple cover too. He absolutely raves about this book but I am yet to read it – I really should!
I have to agree with your dad! You should read it.

Again, i have all the love for the SF Masterworks covers.
They are pretty good and I love this particular one. It’s the cover that I associate with this book – I think it’s the one I read and I just love it!

I have the 2001 one, and I hate to say it’s hideous. I like the minimalism of 1975 one.
Interestingly, I always think of the cover of the Avalon Hill game (which, by all reports is very good:
Meh, no direct posting of images:
