This week over at The Broke and Bookish the topic for discussion is:
‘Top Ten 2016 Debuts Novels We Are Looking Forward To’
I have a confession. I’m useless when it comes to knowing if a book is a debut or not. I enlisted some help from Goodreads and did a bit of looking around elsewhere – anyway, here are my 10, deepest apologies if these aren’t debuts – but they sound pretty good regardless:
- Blackhearts by Nicole Castroman (because – Blackbeard)
- The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig
- Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
- These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker
- A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess
- After the Woods by Kim Savage
- Bite by K S Merbeth
- Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace
- Bound by Blood and Sand by Becky Allen
- This slot remains open to suggestion…
I thought we should have a few covers (because I am that fickle!)

Great list! I’m also looking forward to most of the books you have enumerated. Rebel of the Sands, in particular, got a lot of positive reviews so that would be interesting to read.

My Top Ten
If you love Harry Potter and you are interested in writing a collaborative story set in Hogwarts, please check out this link for details and how to join. Thank you!
Can’t wait to see your choices.
Lynn 😀
I really struggled to come up with adult debuts (I split my list between adult and YA) but OMG YA debuts are EVERYWHERE! I also have The Girl From Everywhere and Rebel of the Sands on my list.
Ohh, I can’t wait to see your list – I’m absolutely useless with this – I spent ages trawling the internet and looking on Goodreads and all I could come up with was YA! (Well, I think all mine are YA – tbh I’m not even strictly sure that they’re all debuts!)
Lynn 😀
I really struggled with coming up with debut novels for the list as well and had to fall back on YA ones. I have several of these on my list as well! They looked great!
Yeah, I struggled with this one full stop. I’m useless about knowing whether or not if a book is a debut! I just hope all these are! I wish I’d found some good fantasy outside of YA as well though to mix it up.
Lynn 😀
Same here! I really would have liked to have some debut books outside of YA, but I couldn’t really find any. 😦
Tammmy (Books Bones and Buffy and Mogsy at Bibliosanctum) had a bit more luck with that.
Lynn 😀
A lot of people have After The Woods on their Top Tens. It sounds like its going to be a good one! 😀
Great Top Ten!
My Top Ten Tuesday. 🙂
Thanks – yeah, I’m really looking forward to some of these. I wish I’d found a couple that weren’t YA to balance it out but I couldn’t!
Lynn 😀
I also just heard of Into The Woods and it Sounds Amazing! Nice snow! Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday
I must admit the cover really caught my eye – it sounds great though.
Lynn 😀
Rebel of the Sands seems to be getting a lot of attention today. I know I should be wary of hyped YA books, but I can’t help it! It does sound good 🙂
I confess that the covers really drew me in with most of these. I do love the sound of a book with Blackbeard though! TBH I’m useless at discovering debut novels – I never have a clue that’s what I’m reading it – until I’ve finished normally! It would be good to have found some debuts outside YA but I really struggled to find these and in fact didn’t make it to 10!
Lynn 😀
Yes! to Rebel Sands and Blackhearts!!! I considered a lot of the same books for my list (and picked some of the same ones as well). Plus, I see more books to add to my TBR list. Thanks!!! Here is my TTT list.
The thing with these events – they just make you want all the books!
Lynn 😀
All of these look amazing! Great list! My TTT
Thanks.
Lynn 😀
I need to look some of these up as I don’t recognize them! Yay! More books to check out! 😀
Some of these do look very good.
Lynn 😀
Ooh, I see a ship theme there 😛 Also, Rebel of sand has such a gorgeous cover. Great list!
They’re some lovely covers! I do love lovely covers!
Lynn 😀
Rebel of The Sands is one I’m excited for too!

It sounds good and actually it looks good too.
Lynn 😀
Always helps when a book has a great cover!
That should be my motto!
