Waiting on Wednesday: Time Siege by Wesley Chu #RRSciFiMonth

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.  Every Wednesday we get to highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to.  My book this week is Time Siege by Wesley Chu.  (Time Salvager is the first in series, review here). Due out July 2016 – I can’t wait.  Check out the fantastic cover too:

26028483Having been haunted by the past and enslaved by the present, James Griffin-Mars is taking control of the future.

Earth is a toxic, sparsely inhabited wasteland: the perfect hiding place for a fugitive exchronman to hide from the authorities.

James has allies, scientists he rescued from previous centuries: Elise Kim, who believes she can renew Earth, given time; Grace Priestly, the venerated inventor of time travel herself; Levin, James’s mentor and former pursuer, now disgraced; and the Elfreth, a population of downtrodden humans who want desperately to believe that James and his friends will heal their ailing home world.

James also has enemies. They include the full military might of benighted solar system ruled by corporate greed and a desperate fear of what James will do next. At the forefront of their efforts to stop him is Kuo, the ruthless security head, who wants James’s head on a pike and will stop at nothing to obtain it

Oh yeah, great pick! This is high on my must read list. The first book was so much fun, and I’m anxious to see what happens to the characters next.

I actually think Wesley Chu is brilliant – he’s so good. I loved his Tao books and you always wonder with such a successful series what the author will do next – and he just went and pulled this out of the hat – completely different and really good. I had a few niggles but nothing at all that spoiled my enjoyment.

    Yep. Want. 😀

Very excited to start this time-tavel series! I still have to read the Tao trilogy though. I’ve been debating picking it up this week, because the whole trilogy on Chu’s site is $24, and there is also 25% discount code… so it like MAJOR deal, and super tempting.

OMG – pick it up, definitely – that series is so good – I pretty much read all three in quick succession. I think you’ll love it.

I’ve had Wesley Chu on my book radar since I read some glowing reviews about his “Tao” series, and now this… I definitely have to do something about it! 🙂

I have to say that the Tao series is absolutely excellent. I would definitely start there because I think it’s a series you don’t want to miss.

I’ve got to read a Chu book! I’ve been meaning to read his Tao ones for a while…The cover of this one is awesome!

Both covers for this series are really good. They just have such massive scope and really draw the eye in.
I would definitely recommend both series but I also would just chuck in that you REALLY need to read the Tao series. It’s so good, and really quite unique. I find with an author that if I start reading a later series I never tend to go back to the earlier works, of course you might be much wiser than me in that respect, but I really do think it would be a shame to miss out on Tao.

Lynn – you’re totally right, The Lives of Tao has been put on my goodreads to-read list and I’m ordering myself a copy 😛

      • @lynnsbooks

Yes!! Can’t wait to see what you think of them.
        Lynn 😀
