This week over at the Broke and Bookish the topic for Top Ten Tuesday is:

Top Ten Authors I’ve Read The Most Books From’

We did already do a post that was similar to this not so long ago so I wondered if my choices would be similar, however, as I put my list together I noticed that the authors I’ve read quite a lot of are those with series – and strangely enough a good few of these long running series turned out to be about vampires.  So, I’ve gone with five choices and stuck to that theme.  These aren’t necessarily the authors I’ve read the most of (although the top two series definitely take the crown).  :

  1. Charlaine Harris – The True Blood series.  I think this went up to 13 books and I did complete the series.  Very entertaining and good fun.
  2. Rachel Caine – The Moganville Vampires, which went up to about 15 books in total.  This is a sort of YA vampire series really but the books were all very quick reads and some of the vampires were very entertaining to read.
  3. Richelle Mead – Vampire Academy series – I enjoyed this series and think it went up to six books – and, who am I kidding, Dimitry was very easy on the mind!
  4. Christine Feehan – her Carpathian series – okay, these are a bit saucy to say the least (no surprise with titles such as ‘Dark Desire’).  I have no idea how many books are in this series – I read the first few.
  5. Stephenie Meyer – Yep, The Twilight series.  Okay, by comparison this is only a small number of books – although there was an extra short story so five books in total (I think).  I had to go there.

That’s it this week – I do have plenty of authors that I’ve read quite a few books of (Alice Hoffman, Sanderson, Gaiman, etc) but I thought I’d stick with a theme for this one.

Sticking with the theme, have you read the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton? Saucy to say the least, if not naughty going on raunchy. I’ve read the first nine books (out of 24 atm, still ongoing) and they are good fun.

    • lynnsbooks

No, I’ve not read the Hamilton books – do you recommend them (although with 24 books I’m not sure I would ever pick them up – it’s just so daunting) – I could give the first a try though.
      Lynn 😀

Uhm. No .. I guess. They are fun, now and again but it is daunting for sure and it’s not like they are particularly good. Just brainless fun with badly styled vamps and wolves – think leather, lace and silky long hair – and raunchy sex later on. The first four to five books are nice though, if a tad gruesome but not too long compared to the later 600 paged orgies with some plot between. Or so I’ve been told since I haven’t reached that point yet..

      • lynnsbooks

haha – I think I’d probably stop after the first four to five in that case – don’t mind a bit of sauce but I prefer more plot in my sauce:plot ratio!
        Thanks
        Lynn 😀

I like the vampire theme 🙂 I read the Twilight series and started The True Blood series but sadly didn’t finish it. I think I would like to return to it someday.

    • lynnsbooks

It became a bit of a challenge at the end and I was absolutely determined to finish it!
      Lynn 😀

It would be interesting to go back in time and do this same list when I was eighteen!

Here’s my Top Ten Authors I’ve Read the Most. Love to have you stop by!

    • lynnsbooks

Indeed – in fact it would be lovely go back in time to being 18 – you could rea so many books all over again!
      Lynn 😀

  4. Tammy

I didn’t do a top ten this week but if I had Stephen King would be at the top. I would love to start Rachel Caine’s series one of these days, even though I can’t imagine reading 15 books in the same series, LOL!

    • lynnsbooks

Stephen King would be a great choice – you could just make the full post full of all his great books – I could have added Salem’s Lot and stuck to the theme still!
      Lynn 😀

  5. Michael

You are a brave person to admit you’ve read all the Twilight books. 🙂

    • lynnsbooks

Haha – it’s a while ago and I don’t think I was alone reading them. They were quite addictive at the time – except for No.4 of course which I think was written by aliens!
      Lynn 😀

I listened to book one many, many moons ago and liked it before Bella checked her brains and personality to swoon over Edward.

      • lynnsbooks

Yeah – I think if I read these now I would probably cringe – there was so much constant gushing and always carrying on about how gorgeous Edward was – it did become a bit tedious. But, at the time it just really appealed to me and I can’t deny it!
        Lynn 😀

  6. Genki Jason

The vampire anime this season that people should be watching is Jitsu wa Watashi wa which is about a guy who cannot tell a lie who must keep a secret: his girlfriend is a vampire…

    It’s kinda charming!

  7. Lisa (@TenaciousReader)

Vampires! Nice 🙂 After reading Ink and Bone I am much more interested in Rachel Caine’s other books.

    • lynnsbooks

The Morganville Vampires is very much YA but I kind of got sucked into it and just had to keep going!
I’m really looking forward to Ink and Bone – must read it soon.
      Lynn 😀

      • Leona

I heard a lot about the Ink and Bone but it’s low in my TBR cause I promised my editor to read Malazan and the Wheel of Time. Not to mention all those Abercrombie Books. The cover is gorgeous, though, I hope the story is good too.

      • lynnsbooks

I hope so too – I bought the first Malazan book but haven’t read it yet – I think I overwhelmed myself a little with review books so I’m just getting on with those at the moment. I really want to read the First Law books – I’ve bought that series twice and still not read it!
        Lynn 😀

      • Leona

Oh dear, you will absolutely looooove The First Law. That Glokta character is something else…. My gods. You gotta read it! I read The Blade Itself but had to do a review I promised, once I finish it I will devour the rest of the First Law and read The Shattered Sea too. I can’t wait to read them all!

      • lynnsbooks

        I will – I will!
        Lynn 😀

      • Leona

You might have a crush on Logen Ninefingers… Just sayin’! (He’s not my type but he kicks ass!)

      • lynnsbooks

aaarrgghh – get me a time turney thing – I needs one.

      • Leona

We all need one! Oh I would read the Malazan, WoT and all the Discworld books and look cool if I had one!

  8. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

Reading series always bumps my author count up 🙂 BTW, I bought the first book of Morganville Vampires recently, because of yep, Ink and Bone. I got curious about Caine’s other books so I bought that and Prince of Shadows as well. Glad to hear that the MV series is addictive!

  9. Leona

You have the vampire theme with no Anne Rice? Tsk tsk! Just kidding 🙂 My top 10 is mostly fantasy with some literary fiction.

    • lynnsbooks

Well, I’ve only read the Interview book so I couldn’t really include that series – I have read her werewolf story as well but as I was going for the numbers I had to leave her off here.
      Lynn 😀
