This week over at the Broke and Bookish the topic is :
‘Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession’
This is a nice and easy one! ย Although I do keep promising to cut back on my book buying and try to reduce my stacks it never quite works out!
- A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab – bought
- Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel – bought
- The Fifth House of the Heart by Ben Tripp – review book
- Dawnbreaker by Jay Posey – review book
- Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray – review book
- Shifting Shadows by Patricia Briggs – gift
- The Boy Who Wept Blood by Den Patrick – gift
- Relic Guild by Edward Cox – gift
- The Razor Cure by Daniel Polansky – gift
- Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine – bought
What’ve books have you recently acquired that you’re excited about???

I bought Ink and Bone recently too. A Darker Shade of Magic is one I want to read but haven’t been able to find in my local bookshop. I may have to just get it off Amazon.

A Darker Shade was so cheap on Amazon that it would have been crazy to not buy it! It was cheaper than a bottle of milk!

I’m out of cash since YALC but once I’ve made my way further through the pile of books I already have, I’ll definitely get it.
I know where you’re coming from – books are a serious addiction and sometimes they have a habit of emptying the bank account!

I have Vicious by Schwab on my list after debating back and forth which on I wanted to get, but Vicious presented the better deal (and my husband is near ready to scream about all the books I keep buying, so deals help… LOL…). I have the first book two books from the Duskwalker series because I have Dawnbreaker, too, but I definitely feel like I’m going to need some context before jumping into it. I absolutely loved Station Eleven that was such a beautiful genre defying book.
I’m looking forward to my first Schwab – and like you I got it for a great price which would have been foolish to miss. My husband would definitely be in agreement with yours – I have to smuggle books into the house and hide them – then pretend that I’ve had them for ages.

I recently requested The Fifth House of the Heart by Ben Tripp too, since I’m just seeing that book everywhere now and the more I read about the unique vampires the more I’m intrigued! And hooray, Ink and Bone!
Can’t wait for Ink and Bone. I’ve had so many review books for July – it’ll be good to read some of my own!

At least you didn’t have to buy all of them. I’ve got lots and lots of Robert Aickman short stories to read plus Station Eleven.
Station Eleven sounds great and I’ve read good things – I’ll have to get to it soon – interested to know what you make of it.

Wow, great haul of books you’ve got going on! ADSOM and Ink and Bone are both on my high-priority TBR list so I’m curious to see what you think of them. Patricia Briggs is always ace and I’m loving the cover art for her newest releases.
I’m excited to read Ink and Bone – I’ve not started yet because I had so many review books this month but want to pick it up SOON. Will be keen to see what you make of it too.

Oh, so excited you got a copy of Ink and Bone! I really enjoyed that one.
I can’t wait to pick it up! Everyone seems to love it.

I’ve heard only great things about Station Eleven. I too have it on my book pile.
Nice, will have to keep my eye out for your review of that one.

I hope you enjoy all of these ๐ I recently got hold of Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell, for The Classics Club, which I’m really looking forward to reading.
You just picked up North/South as well didn’t you. I hope you enjoy them both. I’ve done abysmally bad with my Classics Club list for months now! I need to revise my list.
Lynn ๐
Good luck revising you list, I hope it helps.
I think I should perhaps change some of the books – I think some of them were simply too ambitious (even though I hate to admit it) and maybe reduce the number. I’ll have a think on it. Whatever I decide I need to finish a couple of books in fairly short order – I did start Jean Brodie and Three Men in a Boat but then put both down – I just didn’t give them enough time so I need to pick them both back up!
