‘I’m an insect who dreamt he was a man and loved it.’ (Don’t look if you’re scared of bugs!)

Art it Up. This is a weekly meme hosted by Tabitha over at Not Yet Read. The idea being to see if you can come up with some inspiration for a little sketch or doodle from your last week’s reading or just anything else in general. this week I’m reading the wonderful Iron Ghost by Jen Williams. I love this book so far! The diagram is only a tiny sample of one particularly nasty lair that crops up in the story – a nest of giant centipedes and instead of 3 – there’s 3,000! And they need to collect food for their…. no, sorry, no spoilers. Don’t be put off – this is only a tiny part of the story and it is totally gripping – plus Wyverns and Griffins and Wydrin!
Thats so cool and it reminds me of the Dhenrabi from the second Malazan book. Dhenrabi live in the sea and are rather large.
And I have the first Malazan book! Looking forward to starting.
Really hope you enjoy it. Book two is glorious
Ooh, sounds cool – I love a good second book! And, what I mean by that, is with all the trilogies book 2 quite often suffers from middle book syndrome!
Like a bands third album
3,000 of those things? If I fell into that nest… I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking of it!
Also, remember that giant centipede thing from Jackson’s King Kong? Reminds me of that.
Well, I may have over-exaggerated a tad with the 3,000 – who knows! I certainly wouldn’t stop to count and more than 10 looks like hundreds to me! Yes – heebie-jeebies!
Lynn 😀
Well ten of those things would still have a thousand legs! Just as bad haha
Now you’ve made me think about the legs!!!
You have the best post titles! Love the sketch too 🙂
Thanks and thanks – I only doodle though. I’m incredibly lazy, if it’s not done in 10/15 mins I am out of there!
Lynn 😀
Nooooope. I’m walking in the other direction.
haha, I must admit I don’t like insects – earwigs are my worst though – just why would you call something an earwig! We have ears!!! What the hell was whoever came up with that name thinking! Beetles – harmless, spiders – nasty but the name means nothing, worms, slugs, snails, ants, bees AND EARWIGS! Why don’t you just call them braineaters and be done with it!
Lynn 😀
I might show you a torture scene from an anime which involves a centipede… but I’ll refrain from scaring you… 😉
So long as there are no earwigs – I’ll cope!
No earwigs, no… It’s still creepy crawly stuff…
OMFG – thank you very much Jason! Still – not earwigs… now don’t go looking for any earwig clips just specially for me!
Lynn 😀
Icky! If you want to see some really gross and scary centipedes though, look up “house centipede” – we get these bugs of doom around here in the spring and summer seasons and they freak me out so much!
I just looked them up – omg. I would have to move! That’s like a nightmare – a cross between a spider and a centipede.
Lynn 😀
uhhh giant centipedes! I have this big aversion to bugssssssss though of course you know I still want to read these books LOL So you’re back from your trip!?
Yeah, all back to the normal routine. I loves it and hates it – I’m a bit like Gollum!!!!
I don’t mind all insects – you have to get over them a bit if you garden for example – but, I hate, well, not hate, fear – earwigs! I would run down the street to avoid an earwig. Not a funny thing to see.
Lynn 😀
Hiya! I found you from the link-up. Wow. I am squeamish when it comes to bugs but I still liked your drawing! You’ve got all the details I normally forget about when I’m sketching.
Thank you – I’m a bit of a rough sketcher though. I have very little patience so just quickly scribble in a few things – the secret is to draw on very small notepads I find – much less effort!
