The end, goodbye!

b2bf5-toptentuesday2

This week over at the Broke and Bookish the topic up for discussion is:

‘FREEBIE’

No – this doesn’t mean you’re going to get a goodie bag! Basically choose your own topic.  This should definitely be interesting checking out all the other posts!

I’m tying this post into one of the goals I want to achieve for the year.  One of my goals is to read some of my previously purchased books (this post here lists 10 books to be read this year – and I’ve already read one of these!).  My top 10 books this week is going to be 10 series that I want to finish this year (see this post from last year):

  1. The St Croix Chronicles by Karina Cooper – just finished No.5 and now need to read the final book –
  2. Ashes and Shadows by Ilsa Bick need to read Monsters (1)
  3. Graceling and Fire by Kristin Cashore – Bitter Blue (1) (strictly speaking not a series but set in the same world)
  4. The Last Rite by Jasper Kent – finale book in the Danilov Quintet
  5. Soulless, Changeless, Blameless and Heartless by Gail Carriger just need to read Timeless (1)
  6. Fury, Envy by Elizabeth Miles – Eternity left to read (1)
  7. The final book in the Holly Black  Curse Workers series
  8. The Taker, The Reckoning by Alma Katsu – need to read the Descent to complete the series (1)
  9. Wool and Shift by Hugh Howey – need to read Dust (1)
  10. Enclave by Ann Aguirre – Outpost and Horde (2)

Good luck to you! Excellent goal.

    Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday!

    • lynnsbooks

I’m going to make it happen. I’ve decided – haha, and we all know how that goes!
      Lynn 😀

  2. Nathan

whew. I saw the title and thought you were shutting down. This is less scary.

    • lynnsbooks

haha, yes, simply that I intend to ‘end’ some of the series I’ve had ongoing for so long – of course, they’re not all my fault – some have only just finished! I blame the authors.
      Lynn 😀

  3. Tammy

This is a great idea for a top ten! I adored The Taker trilogy, and there are a couple of series I want to start, like Soulless and the Carina Cooper books. Good luck!

    • lynnsbooks

Haha – it’s only one a month after all! I should be able to finish some. Can’t believe I haven’t finished The Taker trilogy – I loved the first two.
      Lynn 😀

  4. christine

great list! I wish I had thought of that. :O
    MY TOP TEN TUESDAY!

    • lynnsbooks

Thanks. I quite like that this is a freebie – makes it very interesting to see what choices everyone made!
      Lynn 😀

  5. jessicabookworm

Good luck finishing these series 🙂

    • lynnsbooks

I intend to do this!! My plans don’t always go accordingly of course – I suppose I should just accept that I ‘will try’ – although Yoda wouldn’t be happy – “do or do not – there is no try’
      Lynn 😀

  6. Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)

Fury is one that I want to read as well, and I won it from someone last year so I do need to get to it!
    Check out my Top 10

  7. Kat Stark

So strange because I usually know at least one book in these sort of lists and you picked all the ones I don’t know. I’ve never seen these. Either way, hope you picked out some good reads!

    • lynnsbooks

Thankfully most of these series are 3 books and I’ve read the first two – I showed the first in series in my post so that people would recognise it more easily.
      Lynn 😀

  8. Kaja

I only read the first book of the Graceling series but then got stuck at book 2; I remember liking Graceling very much, but book 2 confused me for some reason. I have terrible book amnesia so I might have to re-read the first part.
These other series sound really interesting, but since one of my goals for 2015 has been finishing series as well, I really shouldn’t start too many new ones! 🙂

    • lynnsbooks

The Graceling series is an odd one because they’re not a series as such – more individual stories but set in the same world.
I agree completely about not taking on more series. There comes a point that you have to say no more!

  9. Lisa @ Captivated Reader

Nice topic!! Good luck with finishing the books you’ve mentioned. Here’s my TTT post for the week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/01/top-ten-tuesday-authors-id-like-to-meet.html

  10. samoak

Great topic! I have a ton of series that I need to get around to finishing as well. I should finish out the Soulless books. I think I only have the last 2 to read, but I just lost interest in it. 😦 Hope you enjoy all the final books you have on your list!

    • lynnsbooks

Yeah, I only have the last one from Gail Carriger – in fact of all the series on my list are mainly one book left to read!
      Lynn 😀

  11. Michael

Love the idea of finishing a series. I need to finish up some series myself..and I’ve got one or two I need to start. Yes, I’m looking at the Way of Kings just sitting on my shelf, taunting me.

    • lynnsbooks

Aw, Michael, I know it’s a huge ass chunkster of a book – but really, it’s so good – you have to read it!!!
      Lynn 😀

  12. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

I would love to finish off a few series this year – especially the completed ones, since if they’re not putting out any books anymore, I really don’t have an excuse. Hmm, I wonder what you’ll think of Monsters by Bick…unfortunately that one didn’t work for me at all! Not to scare you but I think a couple years ago it was one of my 1 stars 😛 But who knows, it might work for you!

    • lynnsbooks

Oh No, I’ve actually quite liked that series – did you like the others or were they 1 stars as well?? Well, I dunno, I guess I should finish it anyway but now I don’t want to – boo…. But, forewarned and all that!
      Lynn 😀

  13. Joey @ thoughts and afterthoughts

You can’t take it back–it’s written in the Internet-verse. You must read all of these now! Aguirre’s Razorlands is a trilogy I’m intrigued to read about as well, so I do hope you enjoy it (if/when)!

    Cheers,
    joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts

    • lynnsbooks

Oh No – it’s out there!!! I’ll have to stand by my words now.
      Lynn 😀

  14. rudejasper

Look at you being all productive with your top ten. Making pledges and getting things done! Good luck – you have some fun series on here so shouldn’t be too arduous…

    • lynnsbooks

Well, I’ve got to start making headway with my unfinished series at some point! I’m useless! I actually think I don’t like reading the last book for some reason!
      Lynn 😀

  15. romeorites

I loved Graceling and Fire but never read the third. I remember reading parts of Graceling to my wife in one my wife’s prolonged hospital stays. Might have to give it a re-read actually. You have set yourself a fine goal here, a fine goal indeed. 🙂

    • lynnsbooks

Yeah, I’m going into this with positive feelings – surely I can read one book per month to finish 10 of my series off? Surely???
      Lynn 😀

  16. Tabitha (Not Yet Read)

I’m working on the Parasol Protectorate now and I need to read the last two books in Curse Workers (I’ll probably have to reread the first at this point….or just you know find a spoiler type recap review to refresh my memory)

I’m totally going to read Gail Carriger’s YA series too before PRUDENCE comes out. I’m doing them on audio and they are going fast!

    • lynnsbooks

Fortunately most of these series I only have one book left – apart from the Enclave book – I have two to read.
Carriger’s YA series looks to be good – I just didn’t pick it up because I’d not finished the Protectorate – but now, the end is in sight!!!
      Lynn 😀

  17. Tabitha (Not Yet Read)

I freaking love that cover of Black Heart the ones I have aren’t so cool. You know I started that ASHES trilogy and read the first and just didn’t love it enough to continue – the second half just didn’t do it for me.

    • lynnsbooks

Bit worried about reading the Bick books now – Mogsy said the last one was one of her one star reads *gulps* – well, if I’m going to finish some of these I’ll just have to grin and bear it!
That Black Heart cover is pretty nice – I’ve shown the first book from series with all the others except that one because I couldn’t resist!
      Lynn 😀
