This week over at The Broke and Bookish the Top Ten Tuesday topic is:
‘Top Ten Most Anticipated Debut Novels For 2015’
Now, I’m going to admit I find this one a tough one! Really, I do. The thing is I always have books that I have my beady eye on, books that I’m waiting to come out – but more often than not I couldn’t say whether they’re an author’s debut or not! My bad I guess but there it is!!
So, I’ve had a look to see what I fancy on the Goodreads list – because you can’t have enough book wants after all. I’ve not got the full ten but here are five debuts that I like the looks of (I’ve pinched the write ups because, I’m lazy, and, if it’s not broke don’t fix it!:
- Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
- An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir – Set in a terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his freedom. It’s a story that’s literally burning to be told.
- The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy – Twelve years ago Stella and Jeanie vanished while picking strawberries. Stella returned minutes later, with no memory of what happened. Jeanie was never seen or heard from again.
- A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas – Rhiannon Thomas’s dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of Sleeping Beauty and what happens after happily ever after.
- The Edge of Forever by Melissa E Hurst – In 2013: Sixteen-year-old Alora is having blackouts. Each time she wakes up in a different place with no idea of how she got there. The one thing she is certain of? Someone is following her.

AWESOME LIST! I’ll be sure to check these books out. Although I wished I had debut books to put on my post too.
MY TOP TEN TUESDAY
These all look good. I’ve seen Red Queen on quite a few lists, and I can’t wait to read that one as well.
I’m useless when it comes to knowing if a book is a debut or not so I did struggle with this one!
Lynn 😀
I had to go through my Goodreads list as well. Your first two are on my list also.
Check out my Top 10
Some great looking picks =)
I struggled with this one! I don’t tend to think about the debut angle tbh! These are all from Goodreads, quite an interesting selection on there!
Lynn 😀
We have quite a few titles in common this week! Red Queen and Ember were my top two also! Nice descriptions! 🙂
Snagged em off Goodreads – I’m such a lazy mare!
Lynn 😀
Crazy how Ember in the Ashes isn’t even released yet and Paramount already has movie option rights for it.
Cheers,

Oh, I wasn’t aware of that. I do like the look of that one!
Lynn 😀
It’s hard to tell sometimes if it’s a debut author. Goodreads is a great help with that, but it’s not always accurate so I’d be pretty lost on a list like this as well. Either way, no doubt I’ll find myself reading a ton of debut authors this year, since so many new books get added on over the course of the year, I just don’t know who they’ll be yet haha 🙂
I’m sure that I have read debut books this year but I’m not usually aware of them! So, yeah, tricksy, this one was.
Lynn 😀
Thank goodness for Goodreads lists. Hey, I’ve got a copy of A Wicked Thing! Kind of a weird story…I was at a conference for work and a librarian colleague said I looked like kind of person who would enjoy that book. I mean, thanks I guess? Whatever, it’s fine because turns out I AM the kind of person who enjoys paranormal books with girls in pouffy dresses on the cover.
Well, who knew – lol! I admit that girls in pouffy dresses usually puts me off somewhat but then I liked the sound of the fairy tale retelling! I do love a retelling – I just hope it’s a good one. So you enjoyed it then?
Oh, The Edge of Forever sounds epic! I’ll have to add that on to my to-read list as well 😀
Great list!
Thanks – lets hope we both enjoy that one then.
Lynn 😀
Nice list! I’ve been eyeing Red Queen, and just he title Wicked Thing has me intrigued 🙂
That is a good title! I’m defo intrigued.
