Top 10 books on my winter TBR:
Well, I have a lot of books that are coming up for reading and reviewing that I’m looking forward to. These are going to be my December/January reads and I’m so looking forward to them all and yes – some of these have already been published for a while but I’ve not read them yet and want to do so:
- The Ice Twins by S K Tremayne which is due out in January 2015
- The Walled City by Ryan Graudin – already out
- The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon – January 15
- The Just City by Jo Walton – January 2015
- The Eterna Files by Leanna Renee Hieber which is described as the X Files meets Harry Dresden – February 2015
- Horns by Joe Hill – already out
- Golden Son by Pierce Brown – January 2015
- Half the World by Joe Abercrombie – Feb 2015
- The Iron Ghost by Jen Williams – Feb 2015
- The Damned by Andrew Pyper – don’t know if this still counts as Winter but I’m going to put it on here – March 2015

Ooooh The Damned looks good. I’ve really liked some of the Andrew Pyper books I’ve read. Had The Demonologist on my shelf for like a year though…
Well, this will be my first Pyper read so I’m looking forward to it.

Great list! I have Golden Son on my list too, that may be the one I’m most excited about. The Eternal Files looks really good, I think I may have already added it to Goodreads. Have fun reading!

Interesting list. Some of these titles look enticing. I’ve read three Andrew Pyper books – The Guardians, The Killing Circle, The Demonologist – and enjoyed them to a certain extent. Great set ups and descriptions that lead to feelings of paranoia and subtle urban horror but when the ending comes, it’s like the steam runs out.
Maybe my first read of Pyper will be his first all steam ahead, no holds barred ending book! Do you not recommend that I read his earlier works then??
Absolutely, give them a shot. I liked them all but I found the atmosphere and character building were so strong that the endings felt lacking, sort of like when you watch an action film full of mayhem and violence and you get to the final battle and expect a helicopter full of bad guys to get shot down only for it to fly off and the lead character to walk in the other direction. Not that I begrudge quiet endings and I’m sort of glad that a book like the Demonologist ended the way it did.
Well, I’ll start with this latest one and if I like it maybe I’ll go back and look at the others. We’ll see – perhaps check out the Demonologist – simply because I like the name!!

I shouldn’t make lists of new books instead I am focusing on what I already have. I would love to read The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens and A Storm of Swords 2 by George R R Martin. I think they’ll be great winter reads. I hope you enjoy your winter reading 🙂
Those sound like great winter reads. I actually pretty much want to read David Copperfield by Dickens – I should buy it for kindle because I don’t want to read the book I have – too heavy!

Walled City and Golden Son are definitely two I want to check out asap, but I’m currently trying to get through some older books now so well see. I know we all strugglle with prioritizing when we read books Here’s My Top Ten Tuesday

I really liked The Walled City and The Just City! But your list includes some that I haven’t heard of and sound good, so I’ll have to check on a couple of them!

I can’t wait for Golden Sun! Why did Netgalley have to just tease us? I had Horns on my list, but then I was afraid of the horror aspect. Eterna Files looks like it could be good and I’ve heard good things about Mime Order. Happy Reading! 🙂
Well, I haven’t read any Joe Hill so I think Horns should be a good start. NetGalley were indeed very provocative with that little trick weren’t they – I think it’s made us all want the book more than ever!!

I’m interested in Samantha Shannon’s and Joe Abercrombie’s series, but I haven’t even read the first book of those series yet. 🙂 I’ve only read Horns from all the books you’ve listed – I haven’t read anything from the authors of the other books!

I’m wondering to myself whether or not anyone else thought that Ryan Graudin was a guy at first (because I know I did…oops). Oh whaaaat–Shattered Seas #2 is out early next year too ~__~ le sigh. Time to go ahead and rearrange that TBR again!

Some great choices on here! I’m also waiting on Half the World and Golden Son. And I love Joe Hill’s books, so Horns is a great choice! Although NOS4A2 is a bit more festive 🙂

I think this coming month is the perfect time to read about Christmasland (major feature in NOS4A2)! 🙂 But I also love Horns, so I will never say its a bad time to read it.

I really need to read my copy of The Copper Promise – I love those covers for these books. I just saw Eterna Files and Just City on yesterday I think I might go in for Eterna Files. I need to read Red Rising before Golden Sun officially comes out arhhhhh so much to read.

So many great books on there…I’d love to get my hands on The Iron Ghost but something tells me I’ll be waiting in vain for a US release date when The Copper Promise doesn’t even have one. To the Book Depository I will go!
No release date for the Copper Promise? Wow – I hadn’t realised. Yep, there are lots of great books on there – and, maybe I should have pointed out – I don’t have them all!! I would just like to HAVE them all!
