This week’s theme over at The Broke and the Bookish is:
‘Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet:’
I confess, these are primarily books that aren’t yet released – so, in which case, of course I don’t own them but I really do want to read them! Β In no particular order I give you my Top Ten for this week:
- Sword of the North by Luke Scull (No.2 of the Grim Company)
- The Bastards and the Knives by Scott Lynch
- The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch (Gentleman Bastard No.4)
- The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss – a novella set in the world of the Kingkiller Chronicle series
- Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss – No.3 of the Kingkiller Chronicles
- The Shadow Throne by Django Wexler (sequel to The Thousand Names)
- The 2nd book in Mark Lawrence’s Red Queen’s War series (started with Prince of Fools) no idea when this is due out but I WANT IT!
- Generation V by M Brennan – this one completely went under the radar must buy a copy and read it soon!
- Shades of Milk and Honey (The Glamourist series) by Mary Robinette Kowal. Β I just really like this look of this one and have for some time but haven’t actually bought any yet!
- Maplecroft by Cherie Priest – gothic horror.
Oh my – such a lot to look forward to!

Gothic Horror you say? There’s another one I must check out!
Yes – based around Lizzie Borden apparently!

I agree with this whole list. Except the few I have read, which I need sequels to.
Yeah, you’ve already read the next Wexler (and others!) – I need to get on that one though!!

Gothic Horror? That could be MY precioussss….Goodreads tells me this is the first book in a series, but it does sound very interesting.
Yeah, I really fancy it – I love the gothic horror description although sometimes they don’t quite live up to the promise!

So many series with bromance overload, presumably, at least aha.
Cheers, joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts
I never really thought about that tbh. Yeah, I suppose the Locke books have a bit of a bromance going on for sure. I love those books!!
Lynn π
Haha, if there’s a book I really want to read but don’t have it…chances are it’s because it’s not published yet π And what! Get thee out to the bookstore now and pick up a copy of Generation V! π
Yes, I’ve ordered a copy of Generation V – I was intrigued after reading your review and I’m looking forward to that one.

YES Shades of Milk and Honey! I just read Mary Robinette Kowal’s novelette The Lady Astronaut of Mars and it was sooooo freaking good. Can’t wait to see what she can do with a full length novel, especially one that’s a fantasy of manners. They’re always so witty and fun!
I know – I’ve wanted to read these for ages so don’t really know what my problem is – I just need to make more time!! Lady Astronaut of Mars sounds excellent – must have a look at that – it can’t hurt to have just ONE more book can it!
Lynn π
I’m really looking forward to reading more about the Gentlemen Bastards, too. Those books seem like they’re taking forever…
We’re just too impatient for the good things in life!!
Lynn π
Oooh I have the first Patrick Rothfuss book, must get back to it π So much to read, so little time…
Indeed – we need a time turner!! Somebody hurry up and invent one already – we have the name and the idea for goodness sake!
Lynn π
I can’t even tell you how much I would like a time turner!!! π
Awesome list! I actually got an ARC of Maplecroft at Comic Con which I intend to read very soon. Also, YES to all things Patrick Rothfuss!!
You have to love Patrick Rothfuss – the Maplecroft looks deliciously creepy – can’t wait to get my grubby mitts on that one!

All my “desperately want to read but don’t own” books are still unpublished too! Especially Fairyland #4 from Catherynne Valente, which won’t be out until March, 2015. Sigh…
Ah, so that means I have time to catch up then!!
