Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

b2bf5-toptentuesday2Over at The Broke and the Bookish this week’s 10 Ten Tuesday is 10 things on your bookish bucket list.  Some of these are ever so slightly, just a smidgen, more achievable than others:

  1. Finish my uncompleted series! (See this list here).
  2. Have my own library – okay, I’m not literally talking about a library – I mean, to use one room in my house and line the walls with shelves and then, more to the point, FILL THEM WITH BOOKS, get the comfiest chair ever, shut the door and be totally anti-social.  Okay, I could let the husband and the dog in there, from time to time maybe.
  3. Meet some of my favourite authors – you people are like our movie stars and it’s nice to meet you!!  Or, maybe I just need to get out more…
  4. See certain of my favourite books transformed into film – this is a dodgy one because what if the film isn’t a good representation of the book – well, it’s a different form of entertainment so it’s going to be different but, LOTR – great example of how to do this well.  Now I need to make a list of which books I want to see at the cinema – it really is that easy!!
  5. Reduce my TBR – although there are only two realistic ways to do this.  Give up work in which case lots of time for reading but no money for spending!  Or, stop buying so many books (not gonna happen) – actually three, win an enormously obscene amount of money and buy my own library (see No.2, although, mmm, does this really reduce my tbr or actually increase it) *quandry*.
  6. Go shopping for a full day and buy so many books that I need at least three people to carry all the bags *not helping with Nos 1 or 5*
  7. Get the three people above to read all the books and cherry pick the choicest – hang on – what are all you bloggers out there for after all!!!  READ FASTER.
  8. Buy a time machine – otherwise no way I’m ever going to achieve Nos 1 and 5.
  9. Achieve immortality – in which case all the time in the world to read whatever I want (and easily achieve Nos 1 and 5).
  10. Marry Neil Gaiman – haha, only kidding.  Yes, really, just messing around. Ahem…

Now, which of those do you think I can realistically achieve?????

I’m not sure I can manage to work through all my unfinished series–there’s more than a few I lost track of, I’m sure. And many of them aren’t complete publication-wise, yet…which makes it not my fault, right?

Yes, that’s my thinking too – not your fault if they’re not finished. Plus, I didn’t list everything because some of them I don’t want to finish (which is a bit sad I suppose but if you leave a series for too long you just ‘go off the boil’ somehow! (Or I do at least).

You’re not committed to finishing a series once you’ve started it. Might as well abandon a few for greener pastures–there’s always more books.

        There IS always more books!

I absolutely despise that I have to use my library room as a guest room as well. That bed absolutely kills the look.

Yep. Bed in the library = spoilt look, although you could get comfy while you read!

Hi Lynn, great list you have here.
I’d love my own library as well, a room full of books and a great, comfy chair, a hot drink in hand…one can only dream. 🙂
I wouldn’t worry about the TBR pile, sure, it may get smaller from time to time but it’s never going to go away completely, right?
As for no.10, you might be a bit late but then, you never know….:)

I bet everybody wants their own library!
I must confess that I don’t worry too much about the TBR – particularly now I buy a portion of my books on kindle – it’s not quite as pressing when you can’t see it!

    Awesome list!

I’d like a combination of your answers for myself. I want my own library. Then I can interview/meet favourite writers and manga artists and talk about films and adapting their books.

I think you can achieve 1 and 5 (just stop getting books for two months), 2 (a library, perhaps a corner of a room), 3 (go to festivals) and possibly 4 (because film studios are always adapting books). Maybe 6.

Wow, I love the sound of your room!

Ohhh, stop getting books for two months!!! Eek – I blame all these authors – keep releasing things all over the place.

      Lynn 😀
