Swoonies…

Okay, Top Ten Tuesday.  b2bf5-toptentuesday2

This week The Broke and The Bookish wants to know what are your : Top Ten Books That Will Make You Swoon.

Now, I don’t really read a lot of swoonies in the traditional sense of the word, however, I will not be beaten!  I will find ten swoonies even if I fall over during the process.

  1. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons – if you don’t swoon at this book then frankly you’re just beyond redemption!  That’s all.  Read it and weep!  One word: Alexander.
  2. The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon – all I can say is Jamie!
  3. The Rebel Angels by Gillian Philip – Seth McGregor… nuff said.
  4. The Gentleman Bastard series by Scott Lynch – and, in a step out of the ordinary I’m not swooning over the main man here but his buddy Jean Tannen – OMG!!
  5. Lord of the Rings – Aragorn

Well, I said I wouldn’t be beaten, but I fibbed.  I’ve only got five swoonies – but, they’re all so good that they count twice!

Hah, scrap the above, I’ve thought of some more:

  1. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell – Rhett Butler, you may not like him but ‘frankly my dear …..’
  2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte – moody Mr Rochester
  3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte – Heathcliff – can those Bronte sisters write up a storm or what!

That’s it for me!  I’ve told you mine – so tell me yours…

The Gentlemen Bastards have some terrible luck in love, don’t they?

Haha, I never thought of that – perhaps I better steer clear of Jean after all!

Hooray for Jean tannen! Luckily, I have a life rendition of him at home in my own man.

I am with you entirely on Mr. Rochester–but I can’t stand Heathcliff. And my favorite in LOTR is definitely Faramir!

I love Mr Rochester – Heathcliff, well, he’s pretty selfish isn’t he – but, so is Cathy so they’re fairly well suited. I prefer the television version of him – the old black and white with a young Olivier. Faramir is a lovely character – but I definitely prefer Aragorn – I think it’s possibly because I was so frustrated with Faramir for dragging Frodo and Sam back to Gondor.

Do men swoon? Are men allowed to swoon? That’s a woman thing right? 😉

I wouldn’t want to be any of the female characters in Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre. The men are all messed up! Plus you might get locked in an attic…

Hey, you’re allowed to swoon if you want. Everyone will probably fall about laughing, but, it’s allowed. Only kidding 😀
Haha, yes, the Bronte’s enjoyed writing about moody males -and apparently we swooning females like reading about them! I suppose in real life would be a whole other kettle of fish.
