Friday Face Off: Emily Wilde’s History of Dark Faerie by Heather Fawcett

FFO

Today is another opportunity to play along at the Friday Face Off where you choose a book and compare the covers. Originally created by Books by Proxy). If you’re taking part I would love you to drop me a link so I can check out your cover choices. .

I’ve decided to make a couple of changes to my weekly Friday Face Off – nothing too drastic – at the start of the month, the first Friday Face Off of the month, I’m aiming to take a look at joining in with the Birthstone Book Covers meme created by Leslie @ Books Are The New Black so for the first FFO every month I will search for covers that match that month’s birthstone (from books that I’ve read) and compare them and choose a favourite. For the last Friday of every month I’m going to look at the books I’ve read that month and do the same.

Today I’m back to my regular Face Off and I’ve once again I’ve chosen a forthcoming book that I’m very excited about. Even more so because I really didn’t expect to have the pleasure of a further instalment. Emily Wilde’s History of Dark Faerie by Heather Fawcett. The fourth, and very unexpected, instalment. Here are the covers:

I like both sets of covers for this series but I have chosen a favourite:

This certainly feels like dark faerie doesn’t it.

Which is your favourite this week?

I’d choose the same one – it’s better in terms of colour and layout. The pale purple one isn’t suggesting “dark faerie” to me at all…

Yes, that was my very thought. It looks too cute.

I agree, I do love the darker cover and the US covers overall. I’m so excited to read it!

Yes, I was so very happily surprised to see another book due out.

I agree! But I’m probably a little biased, since I’ve bought hard copies of the previous three in the US editions, and I like a matching set!

Oh of course, you have to have a matching set.

This is a slightly difficult one – I’ve preferred the more pastel-y UK covers for the previous installments, but I think this might be the first instance where I’ve preferred the US cover!

Yeah, I like the pastel covers but the dark one seems more fitting somehow.

I completely agreeβ€”the darker one definitely has those true dark faerie vibes! They’re both gorgeous, though, so I’d be happy with either one.

I’m over the moon excited for this one too 😍 heres hoping we both love it. I agree that your choice says dark fairy more, especially with the creepy monstrous hands but I’m quite partial to the pastels of the UK covers, especially as this latest is in my favourite colour. I’m kind of hoping vibe wise that it lives up to your choice though 🀞

I’ve really liked both sets of covers for this series but I think my default position is to err on the side of the darker books – and in this case it does seem to be appropriate but time will tell I suppose.

Agreed with your choice. I like the darker, more classical feel of the US covers.
