Today is another opportunity to play along at the Friday Face Off where you choose a book and compare the covers. Originally created by Books by Proxy). If youβre taking part I would love you to drop me a link so I can check out your cover choices. .
Iβve decided to make a couple of changes to my weekly Friday Face Off β nothing too drastic β at the start of the month, the first Friday Face Off of the month, Iβm aiming to take a look at joining in with the Birthstone Book Covers meme created by Leslie @ Books Are The New Black so for the first FFO every month I will search for covers that match that monthβs birthstone (from books that Iβve read) and compare them and choose a favourite. For the last Friday of every month Iβm going to look at the books Iβve read that month and do the same.
Today I’m back to my regular FaceOff and I’ve chosen a forthcoming book that I’m excited to pick up Pinfeathers by Christina Henry. I have three covers to show but I’m not sure if one of these is a finished cover so take it with a pinch of salt. Here they are:

I found it tough this week because these are all unsettling aren’t they.
My favourite:
In the end, I went for this one because I like the simplicity of it.
Which is your favourite this week?

My favourites the UK one this time around, I really like the egg on it for some reason. Ive never seen the last cover and find it fascinating how much the three vary. Some covers end up looking so similiar to one another I found when doing horror comparisons last year but others could be for completely different books π€
This is why I enjoy the FFO. Sometimes the difference in covers is so dramatic.
I really can’t choose between the US and UK covers, they are so different but I love them both. I can’t wait to read itπ
I know, I’m really looking forward to this one – but also trying to keep my eager expectations reined in a little and not over hype myself – not sure that I’m succeeding.

I agree with your choice — the 2nd cover makes me less interested in the book, to be honest!! And I am looking forward to reading this. I always enjoy her books!
Yes, me too, cannot wait.

This is hard… On one hand I really like your pick, because it’s the most esthetically pleasant one (to me), but the one with the egg is sooo creepy and original!
Yes, I think it is definitely a creepy cover.

I agree with your pick – something about the feather and the blood is squirmingly effective!
Yes, quite unsettling really. Gives me the heebies.

Simpler is better for me, in this case. I am with you on your pick!
Yes, sometimes a cover can be too much – you end up kind of trying to figure out exactly what everything means – and in fact some coves are so busy they almost contain (they do) spoilers.
