Today I’m returning to the Friday Face Off, originally created by Books by Proxy). This is an opportunity to look at a book of your choice and shine the spotlight on the covers. Of course this only works for those books that have alternative covers (although sometimes I use this to look at a series of books to choose a favourite). So, if you have a book that has alternative covers, highlight them and choose your favourite. If you’re taking part it would be great if you leave a comment/link so I can take a look at what you’ve chosen.
This week I’ve chosen my current read – which I’m absolutely loving. A Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett is the third book in the Ana and Din mysteries and I can’t get enough of this series. Anyway. Here are the covers;

My favourite:
I love these covers – although the colour of the alternative is just gorgeous.
Which is your favourite this week?

I agree with your favorite, and it’s the edition I bought😁
I really do like those covers, they’re almost like classic book covers.
Lynn 😀
I’m with you on his pick. It just grabs my attention way more for some reason!
The other cover feels very sci-fi to me whereas this feels more fantasy/mystery. I guess there is an element of sci fi too but I think if I went off the second set of covers it might have put me off ever starting the series.
Lynn 😀
The other one is definitely my favourite, it’s actually one of my favourite covers of 2026 so far! Helps that it’s purple, of course!
I do love purple tbh but that cover just somehow doesn’t work for me. I don’t know why. Happy that it’s one of your favourites though.
Lynn 😀
Great choice! I have to agree, that one definitely stole the show for me too.
Thanks 😀
My favourites the other one than you’ve picked. I like both styles to be fair but I always prefer the UK ones for this series. And this time round its purple so of course it was going to win out for me 😂 I love how the mushrooms creep over the edges on the one you’ve picked though. Very fitting for some of the horrors included in the series.
I like the first because it has an almost classic book feel, like the edges should be sprayed in gold or something. The second cover almost gives me more sci-fi vibes than fantasy – but, yes, I do like the colour purple and I can see where they’re going with the style.
