Today I’m returning to the Friday Face Off, originally created by Books by Proxy). This is an opportunity to look at a book of your choice and shine the spotlight on the covers. Of course this only works for those books that have alternative covers (although sometimes I use this to look at a series of books to choose a favourite). So, if you have a book that has alternative covers, highlight them and choose your favourite. If you’re taking part it would be great if you leave a comment/link so I can take a look at what you’ve chosen.
This week I’ve chosen a book by a favourite author. All the Murmuring Bones by AG Slatter was, I think, the first book I read by Slatter and definitely left me hooked. I’ve read a further four books from her Sourdough Universe and I’m always excited when a new book is on the horizon. Lets take a look at the covers for All the Murmuring Bones:

My favourite:
I’ve decided to go with the cover with which I’m most familiar. I do actually like a couple of the other covers but when I look more closely at them the execution isn’t quite as good as I would like.
Which is your favourite this week?

I love this book! I really like cover #2, I’ve never seen it before😁
Yes, I really like that cover and wanted to pick it as my favourite – the only reason I didn’t do so was I felt like the hands were wrong – I realise that sounds crazy but I just find them distracting.
Lynn 😀
I agree with your pick… but that’s also the only one I”m familiar with and the one that I actually read, so perhaps it’s not a fair comparison! I do think the top right option is stunning!
Yes, that second cover is rather lovely. I went with the cover I was familiar with which is often the case.
Lynn 😀
Lots of great covers. I think I’m a fan of #3 the most, but I’m a sucker for contrast. That red is really striking!
Yes, I liked that cover too and the way the mermaid’s disappearing into the depths with just her tail above water.
Lynn 😀
I love them all, but the bottom ones are probably my favs.
I do like the cover with the mermaid tale out of the water. Very eye catching.
Lynn 😀
Ooh I’m finally reading this one sometime this month and cant wait to discover the Sourdough Universe at last. I quite like most of the covers this time around. The last one I love at a glance but I wish the face was a little more detailed. Your choice is my go to style and lovely. I really like the second one too though. The colours go together beautifully and the face within the surf instantly spikes your intrigue.
I love the second cover and was torn about choosing it as my favourite, but the hands put me off for some reason.
Lynn 😀
