Today I’m returning to the Friday Face Off, originally created by Books by Proxy). This is an opportunity to look at a book of your choice and shine the spotlight on the covers. Of course this only works for those books that have alternative covers (although sometimes I use this to look at a series of books to choose a favourite). So, if you have a book that has alternative covers, highlight them and choose your favourite. If you’re taking part it would be great if you leave a comment/link so I can take a look at what you’ve chosen.
This week I’ve chosen a book by a favourite author. The House of Cursed Women by CJ Cooke. This is due for release in October and I absolutely can’t wait to dive in. Here’s the two covers.

My favourite:
I feel like this is a very obvious choice for me this week. But I like this cover and to be really honest I’m not particularly fond of the other one.
Which is your favourite this week?

These covers are so different, I’m liking the US cover a little better, it seems to tell more of a story. I can’t wait to read it!
I also can’t wait to read this – I’m loving her books.
Lynn 😀
I guess I prefer the cover on the right because each female character is on it. Then again, the cover doesn’t always make sense until close to the story’s end.
Ahh, have you read this? What did you think?
Lynn 😀
Not yet. Hence why I shouldn’t have voted.
No idea what this one is about, but I think I like the cover on the right the best – the mirrors/pictures seem to be trying to say something (although obviously I don’t know what!)
I guess I’ll find out soon enough – when I pick it up that is 😀
I didnt realise there was more than one cover for this one yet 🙈 we have the same favourite this time though. Im curious about the three mirrors in the second but overall the design looks a bit amateur to me. Whereas the other one kind of looks like a mash up of a stone figure and cameo picture and has me intrigued. Definitely gives off gothic vibes.
I’m also curious about the three mirrors and how they play into the story.
Lynn 😀
Yep I like that one too. I like the concept of the other one but I’m not sure it works that well in practice.
Yeah, I’m with you on that.
Lynn 😀
