The Friday Face Off: The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

FFO

Today I’m returning to the  Friday Face Off, originally created by Books by Proxy).  I’ve missed these for the past few months and so would like to get back to comparing covers (and hopefully I will be updating this page with a new banner.  This is an opportunity to look at a book of your choice and shine the spotlight on the covers.  Of course this only works for those books that have alternative covers (although sometimes I use this to look at a series of books to choose a favourite). So, if you have a book that has alternative covers, highlight them and choose your favourite.  If you’re taking part it would be great if you leave a link so I can take a look at what you’ve chosen.

This week I’ve chosen a book that I’ll be picking up very soon.  The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.  Two covers for this one.  Take a look and see which is your favourite.

My favourite this week:

Which is your favourite?

Join me next week in highlighting one of your reads with different covers

I love the second cover the best, but the first one is so unsettling, I can’t help but like it too😁

It is unsettling isn’t it! Can’t put my finger on why.

I concur! The first cover just feels rather underwhelming…

Yes, and almost a bit sinister in it’s underwhelming feel?

The first cover is… Creepy. But it seems the cover for an essay book rather than a fiction book. I prefer the second one too!

Yes – strange and creepy – and now you’ve mentioned it, yes, the cover for an essay book – which is actually rather appropriate.

I like the green cover too. The other one looks like a bad photoshop job to me 😆

I do like the green cover – although the first is a bit unsettling somehow – which is also quite appropriate now I think about it.

I definitely agree with you this week. Having read the book I can see the significance of the first cover but it honestly feels more like a placeholder one to me.
