Today I’m returning to the Friday Face Off, originally created by Books by Proxy). I’ve missed these for the past few months and so would like to get back to comparing covers (and hopefully I will be updating this page with a new banner. This is an opportunity to look at a book of your choice and shine the spotlight on the covers. Of course this only works for those books that have alternative covers (although sometimes I use this to look at a series of books to choose a favourite). . So, if you have a book that has alternative covers, highlight them and choose your favourite. If you’re taking part it would be great if you leave a link so I can take a look at what you’ve chosen.
This week I’ve chosen a book that is on my shelf waiting to be read The Vipers by Katy Hays. I have a coy of this for the new year and I can’t wait to pick it up. I loved The Cloisters by this author.. This title is being marketed under a different title in the US – Salt Water. Take a look at the two covers:
My favourite this week:
Have you read this book already? What did you think and which is your favourite?
Join me next week in highlighting one of your reads with different covers.

Those covers are so different! I like the blue snake cover the best as well😁
I know, sometimes it really surprises me how different the covers are and even the title in this case.
Lynn 😀
This time around the covers are sooooo different!! But I prefer the one with the blue snake too!
Exactly how that blue snake fits the book I really don’t know but I’m looking forward to finding out.
Lynn 😀
That’s the spirit!! 🤣
I somehow haven’t managed to read The Cloisters yet but it’s good to know that you loved it as it instantly caught my eye. I actually almost added this one to my TBR twice due to the title differences but I realised the blurb sounded familiar when u was checking it out 😂 anyway I prefer the snake one too, it’s so different and really stands out. Plus Waterstones have one of their stunning special editions for it.
Yes, I looked at both and had to go and check the descriptions just in case I was going crazy. I enjoyed The Cloisters, it’s what attracted me to this one.
Lynn 😀
That’s the exact thing I went through 😂 I’ve had the same thing happen with a Laura Purcell book in the past too. It sounds incredibly good and I’m definitely planning to order it into the library next year.
Oh wow, how can you not choose that one!? It’s stunning!
It is rather lovely isn’t it.
Lynn 😀
