Today I’m posting my Weekly Wrap Up and II’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
Books read this week:
I’m slowly catching back up. Doing some blog hopping and writing a couple of reviews. I’ve done a lot of reading this week, mainly because I reached the conclusion that the only way my leg is going to get better is if I stop jumping up and down doing things. So, much sitting and reading. The house is an utter pigsty. This week I completed The Trouble with Mrs Montgomery Hurst by Katie Lumsden which I really enjoyed. If you want an Austenish type story in your life then give it a try. I did pick up The Undermining of Twyla and Frank but for now I’ve set that to one side. Maybe I’ll give it another go in a few weeks. I’m currently reading The Wilds by Sarah Pearse but it’s early days. I’ve also started A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp and so far so good. I completed The Drowning House by Cherie Priest. I enjoyed this but it’s not my favourite by the author. I read The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst which is a lovely story that I couldn’t resist falling for. Finally I read Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan which was an odd little number that I had a good time blasting through.
Next Week’s Reads:
I’d like to complete The Wilds and A Poisoner’s Tale (hopefully within July). I still have one review book left for July but I also have quite a few on my shelves for August. I think I’ll play it by ear and hope to stay on track. I will say that I have a Kingfisher, a James SA Corey and a Silvia Moreno Garcia coming up very soon which I’m very excited to dive into.
Reviews Posted:
- The Moonlight Market by Joanne Harris
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
- The September House by Carissa Orlando
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
- Storm Child by Michael Robotham
- In the Middle of the Night by Riley Sager
- Love Letters To A Serial Killer by Tasha Coryell

- The Drowning House by Cherie Priest
- Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan

I’m finding The Drowning House to be very slow, although it started strong. I just need to push past this middle section, I think. Oh boy, August is another busy book month. Hope your leg is better soon. Make someone else clean the house!
Yeah. The Drowning House is defo not fast paced. It’s well written and I enjoyed the back and forth. But, I feel like I’ve read a few too many of these adults returning to their childhood homes with the time jumps and skeletons in closets. I probably need a break from this type of story for a while. 😊
Hope your leg gets better! I also plan to post a review for Fourth WinG (& Iron Flame) some time soon. Look forward to hearing what you though of it
Haha. Same. I enjoyed it. I had some issues (which seems to be common for me with YA). But. I can’t deny that it was entertaining. I haven’t read the second though so will await your thoughts.
Lynn 😊
Oh, I hope your leg heals up soon with the help of books 😉
A Poisoner’s Tale sounds interesting and actually a few of your reads sound really fun, I’m especially curious to see what you thought of Bless Your Heart!
I really liked Bless Your Heart – great combination of humour and charm that deliver cosy horror.
Lynn 😀
Ohh nice, that is great it sounds really fun to me 🙂
