Booking Ahead/Weekly Wrap Up
I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week. I rather got out of the habit of doing this last year but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track. So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s Caffeinated Reviewer. Without further ado:
Last week:
I’m very bad at the moment I must admit. I just seem to be so busy that the blog, catching up and reading are going very slowly. This is not deliberate, nor am I going on hiatus I just simply don’t have enough hours in the day at the moment. I’ve kind of written August off and now remain hopeful that September will be much better for me.
This past week I read and enjoyed The Maleficent Seven and took part in the blog tour (thank you Angry Robots books). I also completed another of my SPFBO books (so almost on track – phew). I picked up Velvet Was the Night – as you may be aware (or not) I love the author but at the moment I’m struggling to get into this one. I think it’s probably linked to my current weird and hectic August so I’m not giving up. I’ve continued to read and love The Empire’s Ruin and I also started The Infernal Riddle of Thomas Peach – NGL – this is kind of hard work at the moment as it mimics (very well) the style of writing of the period in which it’s set. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read a lot of classics and enjoyed them but it can be difficult to get back into this form of writing. We’ll see. I think I’ll try something different this week.
I’m still going to be reading review books and also another SPFBO book. But, I’m going to go for something a little different. I have two review books that I’m really looking forward to – Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton and The Women of Troy by Pat Baker.
- The Maleficent Seven by Cameron Johnnston
- Mrs Rochester’s Ghost by Lindsay Marcott
Forthcoming Reviews:
- Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop
- Carrion by Alyson Tait
- Iarraindorn by Phil Dickens
I think this whole summer has been weird for many people so I wouldn’t worry too much about your lack of blogging. September will be a fresh start for me too. I feel like August wasn’t/isn’t my best month for concentrating 😬
I am sorry you are finding it hard to find time for your blog and blog hopping. I do hope September will be easier for you, as we do miss you. 🤞🙂
I hope Velvet turns out good!
Totally understand not having enough time to blog. I just got back into the swing of things but I fear that I’ll be busy again come September.
Feral Creatures will be my next read, I think. I meant to read Maleficent Seven while on vacation, but it was so busy that didn’t happen, oops! I’m kind of in the same boat as you, it’s been busy and I haven’t had time to catch up with reading/blogging.
I feel exactly the same about not having enough hours in the day! School starts again for my kids next week and I am really hoping to get back into some sort of routine then. I spent most of the day yesterday and all of this afternoon catching up, writing backlogged reviews and scheduling posts. I have 12 days worth of posts going up now so I am really hoping I can keep on top of things by putting in half a day a couple of times a week so schedule posts/write reviews. Now I’ve done that I have two books to read for tours early next week so other than updating my socials I imagine that’s all I’ll be doing as its the last bit of “pressure” that needs to be dealt with! Hope everything is ok! We’ll have to make a start on Mort this month!
