Booking Ahead/Weekly Wrap Up

Sunday PostI’m trying to get back into the habit of doing a round-up of the week just completed and also take a look at my plans for the forthcoming week.  I rather got out of the habit of doing this last year but I would like to reinstate this type of post as I feel it keeps me on track.  So, I’m linking up to The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s  Caffeinated Reviewer.  Without further ado:

Last week

Not a lot happening.  The weather was a bit wet so I couldn’t get out in the garden so I decided to be naughty instead and try some baking – made a rather delicious lemon cheesecake which probably had about a thousand calories per slice!  Anyway, it was nice while it lasted but I need to start behaving.  In the bookish and blogging scene.  I read three books this week.  I completed Bjorn Larssen’s The Children and read The Echo Wife (which I loved) by Sarah Gailey and The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse.  I’ve made progress on my audio and so I’m about halfway through Devin Madson’s We Lie With Death, hopefully that will be finished this week and I can then start Paternus.

Next Week

This week I’m continuing with The Black Song.  I’ll also be picking up Witherward by Hannah Matthewson.  My SPFBO book is A Wind From the Wilderness by Suzannah Rowntree which I definitely need to squeeze in before the end of this month in order to stay on track.

Reviews Posted since last Sunday:

  1. The Moonsteel Crown (Dominion #1) by Stephen Deas
  2. The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey

Forthcoming Reviews:

  1. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marilier
  2. Children by Bjorn Larssen
  3. The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse

What’ve you been up to the past week?

I love this kind of post, both reading them, because it is a good way to be a nosy neighbor, and writing them, because it helps me keeping an eye on everything going on!!
And it seems like you have a lot of interesting books waiting for you!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yes, I love having a snoop round to see what everyone’s up to but definitely this kind of post keeps me on track.

Never apologize for baking, that cheesecake sounds amazing😁 I’m very curious to read your review for The Sanitarium. Have a good week!

    • @lynnsbooks

Review should be up later, I enjoyed it, it definitely had a horror flavour which I liked, but it had a slightly slow start, quite a bit of character building and not entirely convinced with the final reveal.

Lemon cheesecake on a cold wet day sounds perfect and like the calories totally don’t count. Have a great week!

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, I certainly wasn’t counting the calories – but the thing with baking you really do see just exactly what goes into things and sometimes its a bit unbelievable! I do have a lovely cookie recipe but dear lord the butter, sugar and chocolate – they should be tasty with all that in there.

It has been a wet and grey week here too! ☔ So obviously I had to spend my break indoors eating, reading and watching films! 🤓 And with the cold weather you needed the lemon in that cheesecake to see off a nasty cold developing, right? Plus I am sure the lemon counts as one of your five-a-day! 😉 Take care and happy reading in the coming week.

    • @lynnsbooks

Oh yes, definitely one of my five a day and part of my strategy to keep colds at bay. Later on I had a nice glass of wine – made with grapes – surely another of my five a day.

    Wow, lemon cheesecake sounds divine.

  6. Rebecca

Oh yum, lemon cheesecake!! The Sanatorium sounds really good – might have to see if that’s available in audiobook format 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

      I know – I’m so bad.
Will be posting the Sanatorium review shortly. I enjoyed it, it definitely has a horror vibe, slightly slow beginning and mixed feelings about the final outcome.

Lemon cheesecake sounds amazing! I’m supposed to be watching my health right now which I do at breakfast and then promptly abandon that plan because I like bacon. So. I would definitely try some of that cheesecake lololol. Have a great week, Lynn!

    • @lynnsbooks

NGL – the cheesecake was good. But, yes, I should be behaving also. I usually try and cut out carbs so that was a bit of a cheat.

I just finished Echo Wife and it was pretty darn good! And yum, I LOVE cheesecake. Love it so much that since I’m doing low carb at the moment, I’ve developed a keto cheesecake recipe that I can eat guilt free, lol! Yours sounds absolutely delicious!

    • @lynnsbooks

Ohh, I’m doing low carb now – that was a splurge – we’ll have to share some recipes. 😀
Look forward to your thoughts on The Echo Wife.
      Lynn 😀
