Weekly Wrap Up : 19th January 2020

Hey everyone. Hope you’ve all had a lovely week.  I seem to have been very busy and yet I don’t think I could say exactly how or why.  In none bookish news I’m trying to be good and healthy, do more exercise and drink more water so we’ll see how this goes. I’ve actually made a plan for a full month – can I stick to it?  Well, I think so, we’ll see.  In bookish news I’ve read three books and also caught up with a couple of reviews. I went a little off plan but not much. In SPFBO news I read my first book, and loved it, obviously I’m a little behind but I’m not worried, I’m hoping to fit at least one more book in this month if not two.

Here’s my week in books:

  1. The Other People by CJ Tudor – which was excellent and my review will be posted tomorrow
  2. The Woods by Vanessa Savage
  3. Blood of Heirs (The Coraidic Sagas #1) by Alicia Wanstall-Burke – my first SPFBO book and an excellent 9* read.

What I’m reading next week:

  1. Crownbreaker by Sebastien deCastell
  2. The Bard’s Blade by Brian D. Anderson
  3. Highfire by Eoin Colfer

Upcoming Reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Queenlayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  3. The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher
  4. Deeplight by Frances Hardinge
  5. King of Assassins by RJ Barker
  6. The Other People by CJ Tudor
  7. The Woods by Vanessa Savage

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I’m starting The Bard’s Blade next as well. Hopefully tomorrow! 😁

I’ve started it – read about 20% and it’s going well so fingers crossed.

Exercise and water are wonderful goals. I just bought me a 40 oz bottle, and it has been making it easier to drink more water.

    • @lynnsbooks

It’s a good idea to carry a bottle around really, you tend to take little sips which is better and stope dehydration. I should get one too 😀

I’ve been making an effort to drink more water – and eat less sugar… And so far it’s working – at least nothing has dropped off that shouldn’t. So I’m going to take that as a win:)). Looking forward to reading your review of Queenslayer!

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha, yes, nothing has fallen off for me either. I’m hoping to stick to my new healthy ways, and of course if I want a treat every now and again so be it.
I didn’t get to Queenslayer but I will do so soon.
      Lynn 😀

I hope you’re liking crownbreaker! I’m currently reading shadowblack, and really enjoying it so far!

ahh, well, my best laid plans took a nose dive. I still need to pick Crownbreaker up – but it is a priority.

This week, I finished reading my new cookbook, Quick Cooking by Mary Berry and I have continued dipping in and out of the dark, science-fiction thriller, Cold Fire by Dean Koontz; although I am only brave enough to read in daylight! 😛 Happy reading! 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

I look forward to some of your recipes. I’ve tried the black bean burgers, probably with slight adaptations but loved them and would make them again.

Ooo great to hear you enjoyed the black bean burgers. 🙂

How do you like Sebastien deCastell’s series so far? I love those covers, but haven’t had a chance to pick up the first one yet.

    • @lynnsbooks

I have loved it so far – I have the final book left. It started off with a lot of fun but the main character has grown with each book and the tone has become darker. I just love the plots and the characters.
      Lynn 😀

Omg I loved The Bards Blade. Just fell in love with those characters. I need to read Shadowblack. It’s up soon on my TBR

Woohoo, so glad to hear The Other People was excellent, I’m about to dive into it, hopefully in the next few days after I finish reading Bard’s Blade 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

I’ve just started bard’s blade – early days but seems promising.
      Lynn 😀

Can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Other People as I’ve got that on request and it will be the first of the author’s books I’ve read. Highfire is another one I’m really looking forward to.
    Happy Reading 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I’ve started Highfire and Bard’s blade. Loved The Other People.
      Lynn 😀

Healthy yay! I’m getting back to my healthy dieting this week myself, after nearly three months of eating whatever I’m scared to look and see how much weight I’ve gained back (although my clothes don’t feel much tighter so maybe it’s not too bad). Good luck, you can do it!

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha, yes, I was eating to plan until December and then I had so many things going on, birthdays, Xmas and socialising that I just abandoned everything and said to heck with it. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve done too much damage and so you probably haven’t either. Back to the healthy choices now with a few treats every now and again.
      Lynn 😀

      • waytoofantasy

Yeah, the good thing is that if you fall off a bit you can always start again! 🙂
