Its difficult to believe but in just one more week we will be three quarters of the way through the year 2020.  It’s strange how quickly this year is flying by and looking at my progress in reading this year so far I make it that I’ve read 85 books including this past week so my 100 books per year should be achievable.  I hope everyone has had a good week.  I’ve managed to read two of the three books I set for myself this week – these two books couldn’t have been more different in style and story and yet I enjoyed both.  And, I still haven’t got to the Dragon Republic – I seem to keep rolling it forward, I think I’m scared to be happy because I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews so I need to pick it up soon.  I also need to crack out a few reviews. I’ve started my fourth SPFBO book for the month and should have an update by the end of the month and that and the other two from my third batch.  I posted my half way point summary which can be found here.

My books:

  1. The Resurrectionist of Caligo by Wendy Trimboli, Alicia Zaloga
  2. The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman

Next scheduled reads:

  1. The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang
  2. Violet by Scott Thomas
  3. The Bone Ships by RJ Barker

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Queenslayer by Sebastien DeCastell
  3. The Witch Who Courted Death by Maria Lewis
  4. Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw
  5. Bone China by Laura Purcell
  6. The Resurrectionist of Caligo by Wendy Trimboli, Alicia Zaloga
  7. The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I think you jumped ahead a year, but I know what you mean! This year has gone crazy fast. I’m dying to read your review of the new Alice Hoffman, and I’m hoping to read The Bone Ships and Violet very soon as well😁

Yes… nearly three-quarters through the year. They don’t make them like they used to – when I was a girl, a week had 7 whole days in it, instead of the 4.5 these modern weeks have…

I look forward to seeing what you make of the new Alice Hoffman, Lynn – have a great week.

The Alice Hoffman was brilliant. REally brilliant. I was hooked and couldn’t put it down.
      Lynn 😀
PS – what is with these shorter weeks! Slow down pretty please.

I really need to tuck into this author – I think she sounds right up my street…

As for devaluing time – we ought to start a campaign for getting our real weeks back. I blame the Government…

Hey, I’m also currently reading The World That We Knew, and The Bone Ships is one of the next books on my TBR! Great minds read alike 😉

  5. Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum

Hoping to start my horror reads for October next week, and Violet is on my list as well!

    • @lynnsbooks

I’ve started Violet but only about 10% in so it’s all still setting up.
      Lynn 😀

  6. Barb @ Booker T's Farm

I’ve heard great things about the Alice Hoffman book but I really can’t wait for your review of Violet!

    • @lynnsbooks

I’m reading Violet now but it’s early days so too soon to call.
      Lynn 😀

Happily my reading has picked up in the last week and I actually finished two books: the fun fantasy Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett and the nostalgic crime-fiction Front Page Murder by Peter Bartram. 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

My reading has slowed down! I seem to have so many things going on atm that I just tend not to pick up a book in my quieter moments which is quite unusual for me. I hope your foot is getting better Jessica?
      Lynn 😀

      • jessicabookworm

My foot seems to be healing really well, thank you 🙂 I hope you manage to get some more quite time for reading soon.

      • @lynnsbooks

        I hope so too thanks.
        Lynn 😀

I really can’t believe how fast this year has gone by! Looks like a pretty good week, Lynn! Hope this week is a great one for you. 🙂
