Weekly Wrap Up : 16th June 2019

Hello again everyone.  Hope you’ve had a good week.  The weather has been absolutely horrible but the silver lining of bad weather is more reading.  I’ve read three books this week and I have to confess I’m on a role – three really great reads.  Limited Wish – the second instalment of Mark Lawrence’s time travelling sci fi which is a lot of fun and totally mind bending in a great way (how is that not a contradiction?).  The 10th instalment of the Mercy Thompson series which I really enjoyed and really shook things up and finally The Corset by Laura Purcell – which absolutely blew me away – I loved it.  In other news SPFBO5 is now live – and has already received over 250 entrants – in fact the tally as this post goes live is 264.  Looks like there’s some strong competition and I’m looking forward to seeing which books and authors are in my group.  So, here’s what I’ve been reading:

My books:

  1. Limited Wish by Mark Lawrence – 4.5 stars
  2. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs – 4 stars
  3. The Corset by Laura Purcell – 5 stars

Next scheduled reads:

  1. The Whisper Man by Alex North
  2. Nocturna by Maya Motayne
  3. Across the Void by SK Vaughn

Upcoming reviews

  1. King of the Road by RS Belcher
  2. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs
  3. The Fall by Tracy Townsend
  4. Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  5. The Corset by Laura Purcell

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I really envy people who have a bunch of books they’ve finished and started all in one week! I read way too slowly to come anywhere near that!

I also read slowly – sometimes! It can’t be helped. Plus sometimes life gets in the way. I tend to have a slow week followed by a fast week.

I’m curious to your thoughts on Nocturna!

Eek, still haven’t made any progress on that one! Reading the Whisper Man. Soon.

The Corset is the same as The Poison Thread I think, which is the US title. I bought The Corset from Book Depository last year but haven’t read it, now I’m going to make time!

    • @lynnsbooks

It is the same – and totally make time, it’s bloody brilliant.

I read One Word Kill and enjoyed it. I’m eager for the next installment

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, I think this one was even better tbh so I hope you get to it soon.

YES, I can’t wait for your review of The Corset/Poison Thread! Need to compare notes 😀

I loved that book so much – I had to go back and read the ending again though and even now I’m not sure if I’ve read it right – maybe a third time won’t hurt.

Aw I’m so pleased the bad weather gave you plenty of time to read and some great books too. Sadly I didn’t finish any books… actually I barely read anything with the stress of a selection process at work. I indulged in a lot of comfort TV re-watching instead. Hoping to get back to the books this week!

    • @lynnsbooks

Oh, I hope your selection process went okay and that the comfort tv helped.
      Lynn 😀

Looks like a good week despite the weather. Looking forward to SPFBO5! I think I’ve actually read a couple of the entries this time around. 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

There are some very good looking books this year – I’m really excited.
      Lynn 😀
