March is over and with it the first quarter of the year.  I hope you’ve all had a good start to 2019.  I’ve read two more of my SPFBO finalists and the reviews will follow shortly – in fact at the moment I’m keeping on top of my reviews although I still do have a few still outstanding from last year.  This month I’ve read a total of 10 books and my month in reviews looks like this:

Books read:  this month = 10

  1. The True Queen by Zen Cho
  2. The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty
  3. Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik
  4. The Strawberry Thief (Chocolat #4) by Joanne Harris
  5. The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins
  6. The Dollmaker by Nina Allan
  7. Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence
  8. Aching God (Iconoclasts #1) by Mike Shel
  9. The Raven’s Tale by Cat Winters
  10. Sowing (The Purification Era #1) by Angie Grigaliunas

My month in covers is here.

What’ve you been reading??

Backlist books

None.

Unfinished series completed:

I read Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence which was the final instalment in the Book of the Ancestor series.

Holy2

Books Bought:

None this month – which is a big surprise!

Review Books:

I’ve been a lot more restrained this month:

  1. One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence
  2. The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag
  3. The Witch Who Courted Death by Maria Lewis
  4. A Hero Born by Jin Yong
  5. The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman

Cover compare:

I like both covers to be honest on balance I probably prefer the second cover if pushed to make a choice.

Which is your favourite?

Hope you’ve all had a good month.

I’ve been debating whether to request the new Alice Hoffman. I’m trying to be good! And I do love that first Holy Sister cover, is that the UK?

    • @lynnsbooks

      Yeah, that’s the UK version.
I couldn’t resist the Alice Hoffman book. Publication date isn’t until September (expected) so I have time to fit it in. *she said confidently*

Great month. I don’t know how I managed to read 10 books this month but I did too. I think because hubby had his gall bladder out I was off several days with him and read a lot during that time because he was TV/channel surfing. I like both covers of the Lawrence book but I think the standard one I’m seeing (the second) is my fave as well.

Ten books is quite respectable really – although I have quite a few books for the month of April so I do need to press on.

Sounds like you had a great month! Good job on keeping up with your reviews 😀 I think I like the cover on the right for Holy Sister

I’m really trying this year not to fall behind with reviews. I need to write up the three from last week but that doesn’t feel like an uphill battle.

I picked up One Word Kill as well. Along with Holy Sister I will be reading later this month, it’s going to be a Mark Lawrence April 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

It is indeed. I really liked Holy Sister and I’m very curious about One Word Kill.

What a fantastic reading month you had in March!

I just saw One Word Kill on Amazon First Reads for $4.99 for the eBook… I’ve been debating on buying it. I have never read any of his books, but have heard great things about Red Sister & that series – which I see you’ve read and assume enjoyed.

I like the first cover better! I think it is more of an attention grabber 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

I’ve read all of the Ancestor books and it’s a series I definitely recommend. It’s so good.

Lynn, 10 books is an amazing amount and well done for generally keeping on top of all those reviews! In March, I treated myself to some shorter, lighter books and it paid off, as I finished four books. Here’s to another great month of reading in April. 🙂

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, I can’t do 10 books every month but sometimes if I’m loving the book I just really focus on the reading and everything else goes on the back burner. Well done with your books too and here’s hoping we both enjoy April just as much.
      Lynn 😀

10 books is great, and it looks like a lot of good ones there! Hope you have a fantastic April!

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks – fingers crossed and for you to have a wonderful April too
      Lynn 😀
