Weekly Wrap Up : 24/2/19
What an amazing week with lots of lovely weather – quite unknown in the UK for this month of the year – all the little green buds are peaking up hopefully through the soil! Fingers crossed that this mild weather continues and all these new green shoots don’t get blitzed with frost. Reading wise I’ve read three books this week. I’ve gone a little off plan though. I read The Anointed and also Never Contented Things. I did read some of The Orphanage of Gods but I’ve had to put that down for the moment. I think it’s a case of ‘it’s me not you’ but my mood just isn’t in the right place so I’m going to give us both a bit of space.
My books:
- Never-Contented Things by Sarah Porter
- The Anointed by Keith Ward (one of the SPFBO finalists)
- Bound by Mark Lawrence
Next week’s reads:
- Symphony of the Wind by Steven McKinnon (one of the SPFBO finalists)
- The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty
- The True Queen by Zen Cho
Currently reading:
- Symphony of the Wind by Steven McKinnon
Upcoming reviews:
- Never-Contented Things by Sarah Porter
- The Anointed by Keith Ward (one of the SPFBO finalists)
- Bound by Mark Lawrence
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
Oh man I’m loving that cover for Never Contented Things! I need to look that one up. Glad you’ve had good weather. Here In Kentucky it’s been nothing but rain all month. Looking forward to your thoughts on all these reads.
There was a lot of rain here too – just a week and a half ago, absolutely none stop. That cover is rather gorgeous and I can’t deny it’s what first attracted me.
Lynn 😀
You got some great books here! I’m jealous of your mild weather, we’re having snow with a windstorm today, imminent power outages. This week I’m reading Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman (so fun!!) and Time and Again by Jack Finney (deadly slow, but interesting nonetheless)
This time last year we were in the throes of a blizzard – literally, with the country virtually coming to a standstill, because despite a long history of bad weather and snowfall during winter we still can’t handle it.
Ohh, I fancied the Neil Gaiman book – can’t wait to see what you think of that.
Lynn 😀
This week, I really threw myself into finishing The Story of Reality by Gregory Koukl, which is the book my church’s book club will be meeting to discuss on Thursday. I found it a challenging read, so it will be interesting to hear what others thought. I am also a little over half way through Origin by Dan Brown and so far so good!
Sounds like a good reading week indeed. I look forward to your thoughts on the Dan Brown.
Lynn 😀
Arggh, I still need to figure out a way to fit in Kingdom of Copper. Loved the first book, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read this sequel.
I hope to get to it this week – my Current SPFBO is about 600 pages and I think Kingdom of Copper is also quite high in terms of page count so we’ll see.
Lynn 😀
Glad you’ve been able to enjoy the weather. Ours has been typical this time of year–like a fist fight between winter and spring bouncing back and forth every couple of days. And now we’ve enter the windy season as well. I can’t wait til Spring is actually here for good lol.
Yeah, the weather has been pretty amazing for the time of year. Of course there’s this horrible feeling that a cold snap is just waiting to pounce and kill all the new shoots that have been duped into believing Spring has sprung.
Lynn 😀
Hopefully it will stay warmer for you and the buds. 🙂
Well, at least I can wrap up – the buds – they’re on their own!
Lynn 😀
I’m so ready for spring!
Haha, yes, me too – but it’s a bit early yet – just don’t tell the weather though, it’s got all confused and arrived early.
Lynn 😀
I’m also hoping to get to Kingdom of Copper next week! Happy reading 🙂
You too 😀
