I’ve had a fairly decent week this week. I’ve actually been trying to do quite a lot more walking on a regular basis and I’m quite enjoying that. I’ve read The Taking of Annie Thorne which I really enjoyed and my review will be up tomorrow for that book. White Stag – I have mixed feelings about, in some respects I think it was a good read but then I have certain issues. My review will be posted Thursday so hopefully I’ll have cleared my thoughts by then. The Orphanage of Gods, well, I’m struggling a little bit to be honest. I’ve read just over a third but I have questions, a lot of questions and they’re kind of annoying me a little so I’ve decided to put it down for the time being and read something else, clear my mind a little and then return. I posted another SPFBO review this weekend just gone which means I have three more reviews to post.
My books:
- The Taking of Annie Thorne C. J. Tudor
- White Stag by Kara Barbieri
Next week’s reads:
- The Orphanage of Gods by Helena Coggan
- Never-Contented Things by Sarah Porter
- The Anointed by Keith Ward (one of the SPFBO finalists)
Upcoming reviews:
- The Taking of Annie Thorne C. J. Tudor
- White Stag by Kara Barbieri
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
Sadly, I haven’t finished any books in the last week! I have made little progress on Origin by Dan Brown. Instead, when I have had time to read, I have focused on my book club read: The Story of Reality by Gregory Koukl. As I have this week off from work though, I am hoping to indulge in a lot more reading! Happy reading!
The best laid plans – whenever I have time off I make a cartload of plans about all the things I’m going to do to catch up, lots of blogging, commenting, visiting, writing reviews and of course read lots and lots of books – then I find myself totally overfaced and usually end up just sitting watching a film!
Lynn 😀
I know exactly what you mean!
😀
I finished A Game of Thrones last week and I’m quite proud of that. This week, my plan is to finish the books I dropped in order to start reading A Game of Thrones when my hold came in from the library.
I used to rely on such a lot of library books – not so much these days as I seem to have such a backlog – but why is it that you can request 3 or 4 books and they all come in at the same time – even when they seemed to have long lists! AHHHHHHHH. *good problems to have I suppose*
Lynn 😀
Looking forward to your thoughts on White Stag!
That’s probably going to be one lengthy review!
Sometimes those are the most interesting reviews to read!
😀
I’m glad you enjoyed The Taking of Annie Thorne, but sorry to hear you had mixed feelings on White Stag. I haven’t heard very positive things about that book to be honest, kind of makes me nervous for when I start it.
Well, to be clear – I didn’t hate or even dislike White Stag. In fact I think it’s got some really good qualities and it’s quite a dark story packed with emotions and very focused on the central characters. I found it a quick read tbh but I had niggles. My review will be lengthy I feel. It doesn’t seem to be receiving a great deal of love and I can see the reasons why, but I would continue to read the next book.
Lynn 😀
Curious to see what you think of Never Contented Things!
That will be my next book. 😀
Can’t wait to hear your full thoughts on White Stag. 🙂 And speaking of having mixed feelings, I’ve heard some…interesting things about Never-Contented Things, but the premise sounds so good that I’ll still probably check it out anyway.
Yeah, I’ve not particularly heard good things about Never Contented Things but it’s a review book so it will be my next book.
Lynn 😀
I’m curious to your review of White stag!

Yeah, everyone seems to be keen on hearing about that one. It’s not really receiving a great deal of love tbh. I didn’t love it but on the other hand I didn’t hate it – more I had issues that were difficult to get my head around.
