Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy .  This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.  The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite.   Future week’s themes are listed below – the list has been updated to help out those of you who like to plan ahead – if you have a cover in mind that you’re really wanting to share then feel free to leave a comment about a future suggested theme. This week’s theme:

‘ho, ho, ho’ – A seasonal cover

I was thinking of snow predominantly when I chose this theme but seasons are very different dependent on where you are in the world so it will be interesting to see what people have come up with.  I’ve gone for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens which is a book I used to love at this time of the year.  There are many covers to choose from as you might imagine but I’ve gone for those with snowy scenes and just selected a few:

And the covers:

My favourite this week:

I quite like the blue cover with the snow flakes, I think the top hat feels like a Christmas pudding but my favourite this week is the wintry scene:

Like last week I’ve added a Mr Linky here so that you can leave a link if you wish or please leave me a link in the comments so I can visit and check out your covers.  Thanks

Next week – A freebie – choose one of your favourite titles and compare the covers

Love your choice, though I also like the one with the festive top hat!

    • @lynnsbooks

I like that one too – especially the skyline at the back.
      Lynn 😀

  2. Kaitlin (leviosanotleviosa)

Your choice is my favourite as well! My post this week is here:

[…] UK and US book covers and decide which is we prefer. This meme is currently being nurtured by Lynn’s Book Blog and the subject this week featuring on any of our covers is CHRISTMAS, so I’ve selected Hogfather […]

I have to say that this week I’m really torn – while I love your choice, I’m also very taken with the top hat. I’ve not been able to decide between two covers on my own FF this week, either… Probably need to lie down in a darkened room! Have a great weekend, Lynn:)

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks Sarah – I also love the top hat. I’ll also take a lie down in a darkened room I think – December has been crazy.
      Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

Yes – December has whipped past in something of a blur… I was hoping to get more rest, but in the event it’s been very, very busy.

  5. Barb (boxermommyreads)

It’s got to be the colors used but I really like the top hat cover. So festive.

  6. Tammy

I think I agree with you, I love the soft snowy feel to that cover. Great choice, you can’t go wrong with a classic😊

    • @lynnsbooks

I definitely fall back on the classics for some of these themes when I’m struggling.
      Lynn 😀

  7. Friday Face Off: Seasonal – Perfectly Tolerable

[…] This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but currently run by Lynn’s Book Blog. […]

  8. PerfectlyTolerable

The one you picked is my third favorite! I like the 5th best and the 3rd book 2nd best.

  9. maddalena@spaceandsorcery

What a wonderful choice! I like very much the wintry atmosphere it shows and the overall mood: sometimes those soft, almost smudged colors can be more effective than more vivid ones…

  10. Greg

I like the one you picked out as well. also the fourth one (looks like a Victorian city type scene) and the sixth one for all the use of red. Nice covers!

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks Greg – hope you’ve been enjoying the festive season.
      Lynn 😀

  11. waytoofantasy

Wow, such varied covers for this one. I…don’t really get the one with the cardinal at all, haha. I love the one you picked, totally fits the book and also looks nice.

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, now you mention it, I’m not sure I get that cover either!
      Lynn 😀

  12. bendanarama

I love the fact that the Arabic cover is a retouched version of the Muppets Christmas Carol box art.

    • @lynnsbooks

Haha, I hadn’t picked up on that but now you mention it – it is.
      Lynn 😀

  13. Amanda @Cover2CoverMom

Love that cover, but I think I’m partial to the one with the top hat 🙂 Merry Christmas!

  14. DJ (@MyLifeMyBooksMyEscape)

There must actually be HUNDREDS of different version of “A Christmas Carol” out there… I can’t even imagine!

  15. jessicabookworm

Great choice for this topic and time of year 🙂 There are some really lovely, snowy covers too. I really like your winning cover and the one with the hat, but my favourite has to be the simple, yet striking blue cover with the snowflakes (cover #3).

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, some lovely covers right here – I went for ones that fit the theme and I liked them all so difficult to pick just one.
      Lynn 😀
