Weekly Wrap Up : 28th October 2018
I’ve had a busy week, reading blogging and personally. I love this time of year and I’ve really enjoyed taking part in Wyrd and Wonder’s Spooktastic Reads which has just a few more days left to run and so hopefully I can squeeze a few more reviews in. So, this week I’ve read four books, which puts me behind again with reviews but I figure these are good problems to have. I’ll just have to write a review per day. I’ve also been reading my batch of books for this months #SPFBO and my update will follow in the next few days outlining which books will go forward this month and which will be cut. I hope you’ve all had a good week. Here are my reads from last week.
- Chasing Graves by Ben Galley
- In the Night Wood by Dale Bailey
- The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
- The Boy on the Bridge by M R Carey
Next week’s reads:
- Songwoman by Ilka Tampke
- Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa
- Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
Upcoming reviews:
- Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
- Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
- Noir by Christopher Moore
- Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers
- The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso
- Soulbinder by Sebastien DeCastell
- House of Glass by Susan Fletcher
- Chasing Graves by Ben Galley
- In the Night Wood by Dale Bailey
- The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
- The Boy on the Bridge by M R Carey
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
I have been wanting to read Boy on the Bridge! Did you like it?
I thought the ending was amazing. It bumped it up to a 5 star read for me.
Lynn 😀
Lynn, it is great to hear you’ve been enjoying your reading and this time of year so much, even if it is putting you even more behind on your reviews! I have actually almost caught up on my reviews – only three to go! This week, I have been reading dark historical fiction A Gathering of Ghosts by Karen Maitland and I have continued with The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan. Happy spooky reading! 😀
Fortunately I’ve written quite a few reviews this week – I’m determined to catch up.
Lynn 😀
Well done!
I would say for sure that reading all these books and looking forward to writing about them is a good problem! Happy fall, Lynn!
Yup 😀 Happy fall to you too 😀
Four books is awesome. I’m anxious for your thoughts on In the Woods as well as the Kagawa book when you get to it. Mogsy seemed to really like it and if you do too, that will increase my chances of grabbing it!
I’m just reading the Kagawa book and enjoying it so far – although only in the early stages. The Woods book – I liked it but didn’t love it. I found it a bit too ‘wordy’ in parts and the author likes to chuck in a lot of obscure words and literary references – which I liked in a way but also found it a bit irritating at certain points, like it pulled me out of the story or it felt a little unnecessary. Like ‘doctor speak’ or something.
Lynn 😀
That’s a great reading week, Lynn – I’ve also got The Boy on the Bridge on my TBR pile and am looking forward to getting to it. I hope your coming week is a good one and you can catch up on your reviews – I am currently behind too!
I loved the ending – hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to pick up.
Lynn 😀
I think it’s just moved further up my TBR pile:)
Four books, that’s a great week! I know whenever I read a bunch I always get a little behind in reviews too. There’s only so much time, haha. I’ll be looking forward to your reviews on a few of these. 🙂
Thats the problem with a great reading week – catching up with reviews.
Lynn 😀
Oh my goodness, I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on The Silent Companions!
I’m really curious to hear about Skyward. Hope its good!
I hope so too 😀
SKYWARD! I am so pumped! I’m getting super nervous since our postal system in Canada is on strike, so my copy of Skyward will be delayed if they don’t wrap this up soon 😦
Oh no *shakes fist*. The beauty of e-books eh!
Lynn 😀
Mind blown! That option didn’t even cross my mind. THANK YOU!
