Weekly Wrap Up : 22 July 2018
Well, the sun has been shining and I’ve been basically slacking! It happens. Too much socialising and chilling out. I’ve read one book this week and only caught up with one of my reviews. There’s always next week though. So, here’s what I read this week:
- Redemption’s Blade by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Next Week’s Reads: (I’ve listed three – one can but hope!):
- Hunted by GX Todd
- Bitter Orange by Claire Fuller
- You Die When You Die by Angus Watson
Upcoming reviews: –
- Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
- Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
- Noir by Christopher Moore
- The Burning Chambers by Kate Mosse
- One of Us by Craig DiLouie
- Wrath of Gods by Dyrk Ashton
- Little Eve by Catriona Ward
- Redemption’s Blade by Adrian Tchaikovsky
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
Summer socializing is in full swing! This week I’m reading more of The Dresden Files and trying to finish up Star Touched by A. L. Kaplan.
Hope you enjoy all your reads.
Lynn 😀
Thanks!
Ive been trying to finish Spellslinger for two weeks, lol. I’m just too busy, plus I’m at Comic Con so I haven’t read a word since last Wednesday!
I wouldn’t be reading if I was a Comic Con.
Lynn 😀
You Die When You Die is a title that caught my attention since the first time I saw it mentioned: I will keep on high alert for your review! 🙂
I’m really looking forward to it.
Lynn 😀
I know this is random, but the cover of You Die When You Die reminds me of the cover of the movie 300…
Cheers to accomplishing more reading this week! I wouldn’t beat yourself up though. Here in Ohio we get out when we can since we have a ridiculously long winter lol
I didn’t realise you had a long winter. I see what you mean about You Die When you Die – this is Sparta!
I don’t particularly beat myself up but one book in a week does seem very slow – I’m not a real speed reader but two a week is fairly normal.
Lynn 😀
Quite right too – if you can’t chill in the sunshine, when can you? I’ve also just finished reading Redemption’s Blade and look forward to reading what you make of it:). Have a great week, Lynn.
Same to you too Sarah 😀
Ah well, it is summer, you know! One book this week is still pretty good! Read on!
Yeah, I’m kind of used to two books each week which feels like a regular sort of amount – it makes me feel like I’m in a reading slump! In actual fact I’m just socialising and real life’ing.
Lynn 😀
Hunted looks kind of awesome! I like that cover. And yeah there’s always next week. That always works for me. 🙂
Redemption’s Blade looks kinda good too!
Hunted is working out very well so far so fingers crossed.
Lynn 😀
Well, if you can’t enjoy some of the summer, than what good is it 🙂
Well, quite 😀 😀 And I do seem to be enjoying it. Hope you are too.
Lynn 😀
Hunted is fantastic!👍 I will look forward to reading your One of Us review and seeing your thoughts. I finished it earlier today and I’ve got some notes but my brain is fried with the heat and I don’t really know what I thought about it as it’s not really the type of story that I can just say I enjoyed.😂🙄
I’m loving Hunted, 50% in. One of Us is difficult. Still not reviewed it. Quick thoughts: it was a compelling read, it certainly hooked me. It wasn’t what I expected somehow – was a bit like watching a car crash. Some powerful messages about the monsters that live amongst you and the fact you don’t have to look like a monster to be one. Strong messages of prejudice. It was more like a book that you had to read to see where it was going but it wasn’t necessarily a read you’d say you loved. I’m all mixed up because I think going in to the read I was expecting some sort of x-men type popcorn read – but I think that’s my own misguided expectations really.
Lynn 😀
Yeah, I agree, my notes are similar on the prejudice and looking like monsters bit. It’s just trying to word how I didn’t necessarily enjoy it as it’s not a story to ‘enjoy’ but it’s a book that feels important.
Yeah, agree, it’s not a book that you’re going to rave about or say you had fun with but it does feel important and also at times uncomfortable.
Lynn 😀
I’ve been slacking, too. 🙂 I’ve been wishlisting that Angus Watson book.
I’m excited about that one – can’t wait to start.
Lynn 😀
Oh, I thought you’d already read You Die When You Die! Haha nice, you’re in for a ride!
Just starting it – excited.
Lynn 😀
