Well, I’m pleased to say my cold and sore throat seem to be a thing of the past (which is good).  I’ve managed to do a bit of catching up this week and also read three books as well.  I’m currently reading The Poppy War and Cross Her Heart.  I have some reviews scheduled so hopefully my backlog should go down a little quite soon.  Have you all had a good week?

Books read:

  1. Devil’s Night Dawning by Damien Black
  2. Noir by Christopher Moore
  3. Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. The Poppy War by R F Kuang
  2. Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough
  3. The Burning Chambers by Kate Mosse

Upcoming reviews:

  1. Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
  2. Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
  3. Feeder by Patrick Weekes
  4. School for Psychics by K C Archer
  5. The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross
  6. Devil’s Night Dawning by Damien Black
  7. Noir by Christopher Moore
  8. Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I just started Head On, I feel so behind!! May is this week and I still have so many April books to read. Help!

    • @lynnsbooks

I know – I thought I had things under control – but I was so wrong.

Lynn, I am pleased to hear you are feeling better. I have had a good week, although the weather has take a turn for the worst again! This week I have finished reading the inspirational God’s Smuggler by Brother Andrew. While I am currently reading Queen of Hearts, Volume 3: War of the Cards by Colleen Oakes and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë.

    • @lynnsbooks

Hope you love them all and have a great week. And thanks, I’m feeling much better.

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, so far so good. I’m well underway with The Poppy War and loving it.
      Lynn 😀

I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much – and feeling so much better:)

      • @lynnsbooks

Feeling better is definitely a relief. Thanks

  4. Kathy @Pages Below the Vaulted Sky

How are you enjoying The Poppy War so far? It’s one of my next reads and I’m very excited!

    • @lynnsbooks

I’m almost 50% in – and I only started yesterday – so, yep, so far loving it. Hope the next half is as compelling.
      Lynn 😀

I didn’t realize you hadn’t read Behind Her Eyes yet, but glad you got to! The ending was pretty “GAHHH!” right? 😀 And I’m now about a third of a way through The Poppy War since we last discussed the book, and I’m loving it! Hope you’ll enjoying it too!

    • @lynnsbooks

I’m loving the Poppy War. About 47% into it now and the War has just started. Let’s see what happens next!

    Glad you’re feeling better.
Behind Her Eyes is a book that I’ve been told many times I should read, so looking forward to finding out what you thought of it.
One person I know was absolutely amazed by it, the other thought it was pretty average. I think the ending had something to do with both their opinions on this, and one nearly gave it away, so I should probably get on with it before i see spoilers 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

I won’t give spoilers away. I really enjoyed it, I was gripped, and and I can’t wait to read Cross Her Heart.
      Lynn 😀

Sounds like I need to move this one up my TBR pile a bit 😀

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Noir. I know my library has a copy and I’m dying to reserve it but need to get some others read first. I’m also super curious about Cross Her Heart. The only book I read by that author was “The Language of Dying” but I ADORED it.

    • @lynnsbooks

Wel, Noir I actually had a good time with. It’s a little outside my usual reads but the humour was brilliant. It was unusual and quirky. I’ve read read Behind Her Eyes and I’m not sure if Cross Her Heart is the second in a series or a standalone but I’ll be picking it up soon so I’ll be sure to let you know. I love Pinborough.
      Lynn 😀
