Hi, have you all had a good week?  I’ve got a miserable cold and a sore throat which is sucking all my will to read as I don’t seem to be focused on the page – that feeling where you read a sentence five times and think ‘what just happened?’.  I’ve gone off schedule a little and read Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence.  Couldn’t resist the next instalment of Nona’s adventures.  I’m reading Devil’s Night Dawning – which I have to admit is a bit of a struggle so far but hopefully will pick up,  And just started Noir – no real impressions yet as only about 5% into the story.

Books read:

  1. Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence – both covers below – which is your favourite?

Next Week’s Reads:

  1. Devil’s Night Dawning by Damien Black
  2. Noir by Christopher Moore
  3. The Poppy War by R F Kuang

Upcoming reviews:

  1. Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
  2. Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
  3. Feeder by Patrick Weekes
  4. The Sisters Mederos by Patrice Sarath
  5. The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst
  6. School for Psychics by K C Archer
  7. The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross
  8. Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.

I hope you feel better soon😐 I’m in my really busy phase with my daughter’s choir, end of the end projects and just trying to push through til the end of May, so I know my blogging/reading is going to be affected as well. I have a blog tour book with a review due next Sunday (Sky in the Deep) so I literally have to drop everything and read it so I’ll be ready for my tour date, ugh!

I know what you mean. May is going to be busy for me too so I’m trying to plan ahead – not doing so well because of this stinky cold but we’ll see.
      Lynn 😀

Aww, I hope you’ll feel better soon.
Loving that Poppy War cover, btw.

    • @lynnsbooks

It’s a really good cover – looking forward to picking it up.
      Lynn 😀

Oh dear! I’m so very sorry that you are feeling so rough… I knew you were under the weather – but I hadn’t appreciated that you were so ill:(. I hope you’ve managed to enjoy a bit of the recent sunshine. Take care and I hope you soon recover, Lynn.

    • @lynnsbooks

Thanks Sarah, it’s only a cold and a bit of a sore throat but it can certainly make you feel miserable.
      Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

Oh for sure – wishing you well very soon, my friendx

      • @lynnsbooks

Thanks, feeling a lot better already.
        Lynn 😀

      • sjhigbee

        Delighted to hear it:))

  6. Grace

    Hope you feel better!

I should get around to reading Grey Sister. Red Sister was amazing. 😀

    • @lynnsbooks

Oh yes, you should definitely pick up the next one.
      Lynn 😀

  7. Book Club Mom

    Feel better soon!

  8. Greg

Hope you feel better! And looking forward to your thoughts on School of Psychics, as that’s a premise I can get behind but I haven’t seen enough reviews yet to know if I need it. 🙂

I love that second cover of Grey Sister, with the sea and the clouds. Makes me want to get it!

    • @lynnsbooks

I loved Grey Sister. School for Psychics has given me mixed feelings. It’s not a bad book but it didn’t quite blow me away either.
      Lynn 😀

Oh no, several people I know have been laid out by a cold or illness this week. Probably due to the iffy weather. At least you got to have Grey Sister help you through! Hope you’re feeling better!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, it’ll soon run it’s course. Grey Sister was the only thing I could face picking up. Concentration was a bit lacking otherwise.
      Lynn 😀

Would you like some chicken soup? I know it works miracles with a cold… 🙂
    Get well soon!!!!!

    • @lynnsbooks

Yeah, chicken soup sounds lovely. I’m at that stage where I just can’t be bothered with anything. It’ll run it’s course and then I’ll probably feel ravenous.
      Lynn 😀

  11. Wendleberry

I like the white/grey action-pose cover. Though it makes me feel bad because i’m SO BEHIND… i still haven’t started Prince of Fools *hides* (Though it is fourth on my to-read list.)

  12. jessicabookworm

Aw Lynn, I am sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well – I hope you feel better soon! Over the last week, I finished reading the gripping historical fiction The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory out in my garden, enjoying the recent sunshine! While I have continued reading God’s Smuggler by Brother Andrew and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. Happy reading!

    • @lynnsbooks

Well, it’s just a cold but it’s odd how it makes you feel so miserable. It’ll run it’s course. Glad you’re enjoying your reading and the sunshined.
      Lynn 😀
