Can’t Wait Wednesday : Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle #3) by Jay Kristoff

Can't Wait Wednesday

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme that was originally created by Breaking the Spine.  Unfortunately Breaking the Spine are no longer hosting so I’m now linking my posts up to Wishful Endings Can’t Wait Wednesday. Don’t forget to stop over, link up and check out what books everyone else is waiting for.  If you want to take part, basically, every Wednesday, we highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to.  This week my book is : Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle #3) by Jay Kristoff.

Darkdawn.jpgThe Nevernight Chronicle is a complex fantasy series about Mia Corvere, a kick-butt, flawed heroine who trains as an assassin as part of her mission for personal revenge. Her tale takes place in the immersive world of Godsgrave which, although based on ancient Rome and Venice, is imaginative with many original details provided by a beloved snarky narrator.

In Darkdawn, the Republic of Itreya is in chaos. Mia has assassinated Cardinal Duomo and rumors of Consul Scaeva’s death ripple through the street of Godsgrave like wildfire. But buried beneath those same streets, deep in the ancient city’s bones, lies a secret that will change the Republic forever.

Mia and her brother Jonnen must journey through the depths of the ancient metropolis. Their quest will take them through the Godsgrave underdark, back to the library of the Quiet Mountain and the poisoned blades of Mia’s old mentors, and at last the fabled Crown of the Moon. There, Mia will at last discover the origins of the darkin, and learn the destiny that lies in store for her and her world. But with the three suns now in descent, and Truedark on the horizon, will she survive?

Expected Publication September 2018

I keep wondering if I should go back and read Godsgrave

It’s difficult to fit all the series in isn’t it. This one is good – I had a few issues with the first, ainly around the formatting/footnotes but the story is really good.

I think I need to give this series a chance. The covers are too damn good to pass up

I’m loving it so far. The first book I did have a few issues with but it didn’t stop me from picking up No.2. It was mainly to do with formatting and lots of footnotes. The second was excellent. Can’t wait for this one. And, yes, the covers are great.
      Lynn 😀

It sounds so good…I hope it delivers. And it’s true, that cover is gorgeous! 🙂

I have to find the time to start this series for two reasons: one is that stories about assassins are quite fascinating, and two, the author is half of the duo that wrote the Illuminae Files, so I can’t let this series pass me by…
    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

This cover looks fabulous – I read Nevernight, I just haven’t yet got around to Godsgrave. I hope you enjoy this one, Lynn:)

Can’t wait for this. Judging by the first two books, you just know this one will be a lot of fun!
