Weekly Wrap Up : 15/04/18
Hope you’ve all had a good week, the weather is getting better at least. We’ve finally finished watching Breaking Bad which we never finished the first time round (got up to season 4 and then stopped for some reason). We watched it all again so that we could watch season 5 and complete the whole thing. Can’t really say the ending was a surprise and we’ll have to find another series now. Any suggestions let me know. I’ve read the two books I intended to this week and also started and read about a third of the way into my SPFBO book – Devil’s Night Dawning – I then only have three books remaining for the competition.
Books read:
- School for Psychics by K C Archer
- The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross
Next Week’s Reads:
- Devil’s Night Dawning by Damien Black
- Noir by Christopher Moore
- The Poppy War by R F Kuang
Upcoming reviews:
- Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
- Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
- The Bitter Twins by Jen Williams
- Feeder by Patrick Weekes
- The Sisters Mederos by Patrice Sarath
- Tiger Lily by K Lincoln Bird
- The Atrocities by Jeremy C Shipp
- The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst
- School for Psychics by K C Archer
- The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week.
I can’t wait to hear more about School for Psychics. That is completely new to me.
It was okay. i read a few slightly less enthusiastic reviews about it before starting so I was probably quite prepared. I wouldn’t say it moved my world but it was quite a good opening gambit. Has a feel of x-men in a strange sort of way – special school but with psychics, plus government style conspiracy and it looks as though the mind benders are going to split in two.
Lynn 😀
My weekend was hijacked by my daughter’s choir so I’ve barely read 10 pages this week. Ugh☹ On the bright side, that event is over and I can get back to normal, maybe? I’m curious about The Poppy War, hope you love it!
I hope so too – it sounds great so fingers crossed. Hope you have a bit more time – although it’s great being involved in these events isn’t it?
Lynn 😀
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Beast’s Heart. It’s one I’m super curious about because of my love of Beauty and the Beast. I’m looking forward to all of your upcoming reviews!
Haha – yes, need to get a budge on. As quick as I write one I’ve gone and read another book at the same time so I never seem to catch up.
Lynn 😀
Lynn, this week I finished reading Hazard of Shadows by Mike Phillips and started reading the next book in the Cousins’ War series: The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory. While I have also continued reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte and God’s Smuggler by Brother Andrew. Happy reading! 🙂
Wow, that seems like a lot of serious reading. I look forward to your thoughts.
Lynn 😀
I am SOOOO happy I found your blog. You always read the most interesting book!
The Poppy War sounds freaking amazing.
Aww, thanks Nadine. I’m happy to have found your blog too and I hope the Poppy War works out – I do love that cover.
Lynn 😀
Right?! It reminds me of the uk covers for Brandon Sanderson’s books.
I’m really looking forward to hearing what you made of School for Psychics:). Thank you for the DM – I’m going to treat myself to The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock if I nail my writing deadlines for the month!
Yay, I hope you do meet your deadline – and I also hope you get a chance to read it.
Lynn 😀
I never did see Breaking Bad. The School for Psychics looks fun- hope that was a good read. And Noir certainly looks interesting.
I’m really looking forwsrd to Noir. Hope to start it soon.
Lynn 😀
Oh oh oh you read School for Psychics! Can’t wait to hear what you thought of it. I am just finishing Noir today, and I’m chuckling just thinking about some of the things that happened in it. My first Christopher Moore, it was fun!
That’s good to hear – all the more reason to pick up as soon as…
Feeder is the title on which my curiosity is focused the most: I’ve kept myself from reading the final volume of Weekes’ Rebels of the Republic because I wanted to save it as long as possible, but with a new book of his on the shelves I might finally cave in… 🙂
I enjoyed Feeder – entertaining, I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Lynn 😀
