Weekly Wrap Up : 22/10/17
I’ve had a busy week somehow (although I’d be hard pressed to say exactly why), although my daughter and her boyfriend came to stay with us for a few days and we went out and about quite a bit. I managed to read one of the books off my list last week (the first Spellslinger book) which I loved, I’m going to pick up No.2 shortly, I decided it was probably not the best idea to read them back to back. And, I’ve also read Starborn.
This week I’m hoping to get to:
- Spellslinger 2: Shadowblack by Sebastien De Castell
- Hero Risen, Seeds of Destiny by Andy Livingstone

Upcoming reviews:
- The Stone in the Skull by Elizabeth Bear (which I loved)
- The Crow Garden by Alison Littlewood
- A Matter of Blood by Sarah Pinborough
- Spellslinger by Sebastien De Castell
- Starborn by Lucy Hounsom
Let me know what you’re reading this week.
22 October 2017

I can’t wait to read your review for The Stone in the Skull, I’m so curious!
I really enjoyed it – it’s a slow burner though. Definitely an epic style story but completely different in that it focuses much more on the individuals so you really don’t see all the epic battles, etc, even though they’re playing out.
Lynn 😀
I really need to read an Alison Littlewood. Her books always sound great to me.
This is the first I’ve read by her and apart from a few niggles here and there I enjoyed it. It had a Wilkie Collins, Woman in White type of feel to it and I thought she did a good job of giving it a Victorian gothic feel.
Lynn 😀
Yes… I’m another one who hasn’t yet had the pleasure of reading Alison Littlewood. It sounds like last week was a lovely social one – I’m looking forward to hearing what you make of Shadowblack. Have a great week, Lynn:))
I loved Shadowblack and couldn’t wait so have started No.2.
Lynn 😀
Looking forward to hearing what you think of it:))
Oh my! Here I am trying to fit DeCastell’s Greatcoats series into my reading queue (all the glowing reviews I read convinced me not to wait anymore) and here he goes with a new series! 🙂
And it’s so good 😀
Oooh, Starborn. I remember reading that one last year…the story and the details are a bit fuzzy though. I have the second around here somewhere, I hope everything will come back to me if I read it 😀
Yeah, I had a good number of niggles with it if I’m going to be honest, but, I have No.2 and 3 so I’m going to try and read the full series to see how it does going forward.
Lynn 😀
I’ve finished my re-read of The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman and now I have continued my R.I.P. reading with Assassination at Bayou Sauvage by D J Donaldson, which I’m so gripped by I am already half way through! Happy reading 🙂
I’ll look forward to your review for that one then.
Lynn 😀
It’s scheduled for tomorrow 🙂
