Waiting on Wednesday : Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicle #2) by Jay Kristoff

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme that was created by Breaking the Spine. Every Wednesday we highlight a book that we’re really looking forward to. This week my book is : Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicle #2) by Jay Kristoff
A ruthless young assassin continues her journey for revenge in this new epic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Jay Kristoff.
Assassin Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church ministry think she’s far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she’s no closer to ending Consul Scaeva and Cardinal Duomo, or avenging her familia. And after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia begins to suspect the motives of the Red Church itself.
When it’s announced that Scaeva and Duomo will be making a rare public appearance at the conclusion of the grand games in Godsgrave, Mia defies the Church and sells herself to a gladiatorial collegium for a chance to finally end them. Upon the sands of the arena, Mia finds new allies, bitter rivals, and more questions about her strange affinity for the shadows. But as conspiracies unfold within the collegium walls, and the body count rises, Mia will be forced to choose between loyalty and revenge, and uncover a secret that could change the very face of her world.
Set in the world of Nevernight, which Publishers Weekly called “absorbing in its complexity and bold in its bloodiness,” Godsgrave will continue to thrill and satisfy fantasy fans everywhere.

I mean really, how can you not be excited about this book? This is one of those series where both the US and UK covers are gorgeous. Can’t wait!!
Yeah, great covers and I’m definitely excited too.
Lynn 😀
I feel like I should add book one to my huge TBR pile. 🙂
It definitely was a marmite book but I really enjoyed it.
Lynn 😀
Intriguing premise, very Roman. I love the second cover, the one with the wolf. 🙂
I’m really looking forward to this one.

This one looks great – I really enjoyed Nevernight.
I did too – very excited for this one.

Waiting for it?!?😂😂😂 I reviewed it yesterday and loved it!👌 A couple of slight things but overall a great book that really improves on Nevernight.😀
Haha yeah – waiting. I’m always waiting, either waiting to receive or waiting to read but it’s really great to hear that this one is even better 😀
Lol, I think waiting to receive and waiting to read is something all book bloggers do.😀
I loved the cover with the wolf, however the other is almost just as awesome. I just snagged a signed copy of the first book in this series so I look forward to starting it.
I hope you love it – I really enjoyed it but it did seem to be a rather divisive book at the time – some people finding it too wordy and some not liking the footnotes. Like I said though, I really enjoyed it.
Lynn 😀
This is one of those rare series where the US and UK covers are equally beautiful…although I do prefer the UK ones! 😉
They are lovely aren’t they – and yes, I also prefer the UK covers for this one.
