Weekly Wrap Up : 9/7/17
This week has been great – I hope you’ve all had a good week too. I’m a bit behind with review posts so there’s probably going to be a rash of them in the next few days.
In terms of reading I’ve had a blast and read four books:
- Phantom Pains by Mishell Baker
- How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper
- A Kiss Before Doomsday by Laurence MacNaughton
- Darien: Empire of Salt (Empire of Salt #1) by C.F. Iggulden
Next week I’m going to be reading:
- Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
- Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory
- Godblind by Anna Stephens
Of course I might not get to them all but we’ll see.
My cover highlight this week is Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory
I’ve not sure that the first of these covers would tempt me to pick it up – I quite like the second with the silhouette portraits. I’ve heard good things about this book so I’m very excited to pick it up.
Which is your favourite?
How was your week? What you currently reading?
9 July 2017
I’m confused that Quercus is also publishing Spoonbenders? If anyone knows why I’d love to find out. I like that cover but that is not at all how I pictured the characters, lol. I’m looking forward to your review of Phantom Pains!
Well done on finishing four books! I recently finished reading the final volume of Colleen Oakes’ Wendy Darling series. Now I am reading The White Queen by Philippa Gregory 🙂 Happy reading!
That’s a great week of reading, Lynn! I’m very interested to see what you make of Spoonbenders as it looks great. I hope you’re enjoying the lovely warm weather – let’s hope there’s more of the same… In the meantime, I hope you have another successful week:) My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/sunday-post-9th-july-2017/
I’m glad you had a great week! I did, too. 🙂 I’m going to start my reread of IT today. I’m not sure what else I’m going to start this week.
Four books in a week, go Lynn! Can’t wait to hear what you thought of Phantom Pains (I think you said you listened to the audio?) and A Kiss Before Doomsday. I also thought Godblind was okay, I’ll be curious to hear how you do with that.
Spoonbenders is one the books that most piqued my curiosity lately, so I’ll be looking forward to your review of it! And yes, the cover with the TV does not make for an intriguing presentation… 😉
I need to see if my library has Spoonbenders. Tammy recommended it to me earlier. Also, I’m curious to see what you think of Meddling Kids. I’m really looking forward to that one but so far, two bloggers I follow regularly have not been impressed with it.
Meddling kids seems to be a bit divisive. I found it fun but the author does switch is writing style quite a bit throughout the story and I think this could be a bit jarring although it didn’t really bother me to be honest.
Lynn 😄
Wow 4 books in one week! Nice! I am not going to lie… I laughed out loud at the title “How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf” lol I’m assuming this was a fluffy light hearted read?
Um what is Godblind all about?!?! Is it a series or standalone?! That cover is amazing 🙂
Yes, I don’t usually manager four tbh so that was just a one off. The Molly Harper book is a fun romance with a bit of supernatural thrown in.
Godblind is a very dark book, fantasy, based in a world where some Gods, who have been imprisoned, are trying to make a comeback and all the resultant war that that entails.
Lynn 😀

Sold! I am all in for a dark God hostile takeover!
Dark God – and hostile takeover certainly go hand in hand in this book.
Lynn 😀
