‘The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house All that cold, cold, wet day’

Here we are again with the Friday Face Off meme created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme (list below) choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favourite. Future week’s themes are listed below. This week’s theme:
Cat “In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this”
This week was much better than the previous two weeks which I did struggle with – this week I actually had a few books to choose from but eventually went for Holly Black’s Curse Worker series – a series I enjoyed, in fact I’ve pretty much enjoyed everything I’ve read by Holly Black – which makes me think I need to go read The Darkest Part of the Forest soon:
My favourite this week is, probably unsurprisingly the cover I’m most familiar with:

Which is your favourite?
Next week – Hat
Future themes:
30/06/2017 – Hat “It is always cruel to laugh at people, of course, although sometimes if they are wearing an ugly hat it is hard to control yourself “
07/07/2017 – Gold “All that is gold does not glitter”
14/07/2017 – Boats “The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea, in a beautiful pea green boat…”
21/07/2017 – Planet “Any planet is ‘Earth’ to those who live on it”
23 June 2017
For some reason I’m really drawn to the one with the gloved hand. I also like the one you chose as your favorite – which is definitely a close second to me. I’ve always wanted to give this series a try. Nice cover feature.
I think the gloved hand cover is good too.
Lynn 😀
I like the first one on the second row; it looks otherworldly and magical, perhaps because of the lighting effect. The cover next to it is not so bad either, the cat looks ghostly.
Yeah, they’re both quite nice – the font makes that second cover you like look even more spooky.
Lynn 😀
I drew a blank this week – but thanks for introducing me to a new book! I didn’t even realize she had written this one! I like your choice too, sepia tone gives it that old-timey look 🙂
Yeah – I never noticed the crease in the cover too – to make it look even older.
Lynn 😀
Love that cat quote. And I like those covers although I think The white Cat is my fave too. Although I like the third cover too…
There are some good covers, I do find that I tend to always like the cover that I’m familiar with – unless it’s absolutely hideous of course.
Lynn 😀
As a cat owner any cover with a cat on was probably going to be a winner for me 😛 However this topic made me immediately think of the gorgeous cat cover on my dad’s copy of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep. Although I have not been brave enough to read it!
I have that book too – rushed out to buy it and still haven’t picked it up. Soon though. It did sprint to mind for this week’s FFO – along with the Cat in the Hat – but I haven’t read Dr Sleep so decided to go with Holly Black.
Lynn 😀
I really like the first cover – the red smoke and the cat travelling inside the leather jacket would have made me pluck this offering off the shelves, though your choice is a close second. Once again, a great book choice, Lynn:)
I love Holly Black, especially her books about the fae! Admittedly, all the cover changes for this series drove me bonkers – I personally think that the original cover best represents the series, anyway – but I liked the story a ton. 🙂
