Weekly Wrap Up : 23/4/17

This week has been and gone so quickly.  I’ve managed to read both the books I was hoping to from last week (reviews to follow) which were:

  1. Avengers of the Moon by Allen Steele
  2. The Moonlight War by SKS Perry (SPFBO)

And, next week I’m hoping to read (at least two books and maybe make a start on the third):

  1. Assassin’s Charge by Claire Frank – which will mark the end of the SPFBO challenge.
  2. Damnation by Peter McLean
  3. Owl and the Electric Samurai by Kristi Charish

And, finally, my cover compare this week is a book I’m hoping to get to very soon, because, spiders! (look away now if you don’t like eight legged critters):

I have to go with the spiders.

How was your week?  What you currently reading?

Hey! It’s been a long week for me, too, though I found some spare time to relax and recharge my batteries!

As for what I’m currently reading… “A Court of Thorns and Roses”, plus “Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book”, plus “The Heir”.

    Have a good day!

I look forward to checking out your reviews and thoughts.

I’m hoping to finish A Closed and Common Orbit this week, and get as close to finishing a book on cannibalism in nature as I can by the end of the week.
(I like the spider cover best too.)

    EEEEEKK!! Spiders!!!!
    (runs for the hills)
    😀 😀

Haha – I don’t love spiders to be sure – but when I see one I try to leave it alone – so long as it leaves me alone!

Yeah, I just can’t do the spider thing. That book is NOT for me, lol. I wish I’d kept up with the Owl series, but I’m a book behind. Hope you have a great reading week!

I actually had a very good reading week – just not a very good reviewing week so now need to catch up.
      Spiders!!
      Lynn 😀

I like the look of the Owl and the Electric Samuri, Lynn. And those dear little spider – so cuuute – I have a real fondness for them…

OMG – really, you like spiders – or are you kidding me?

      • sjhigbee's avatar sjhigbee

No, I really REALLY like spiders and will handle them quite happily.

Definitely the one with the actual spiders. The other one is just too hazy to make out anything, you’d have to look really closely to even see that it’s supposed to be really thick webbing.

And the finishing line is in sight for SPFBO! You can do it! 🙂

I did it – now just need to write a couple more review and all done. 😀

I really can’t decide which Skitter cover I prefer. I kinda like the muted-ness of the first, but yeah, there’s no spiders.

    • @lynnsbooks's avatar @lynnsbooks

I like when you zoom into the muted-ness because you can then see spider legs – but the actual spiders do freak me out a little – which oddly is why I like that cover.

I have always wanted to read the Owl series. It looks so good. And I like the Skitter cover with spiders better myself.

    • @lynnsbooks's avatar @lynnsbooks

Definitely the spiders – even though they give me the heebie-jeebies.
      Lynn 😀

So funny story: I have a ridiculous fear of spiders. I was requesting books last year on Netgalley, and requested The Hatching… I had no idea it was about spiders. Now I am still mustering up the courage to read it a year later lol

    • @lynnsbooks's avatar @lynnsbooks

Well, these books could be terrifying for you then – because we really are talking about a plague of spiders! I hope you give it a shot – but be warned, we’re not just talking of the odd eight legged freak or so but whole swathes of the little critters. Be warned.
      Lynn 😀
