Weekly Wrap Up: 12/2/17

Well, this week my reading has virtually disappeared. I don’t think I’ve ever read so little in one week for a very long time! In fairness we went on a short trip to Iceland and sometimes your trips away are not the sort that involve chilling out with a book and a long drink! In fact all my plans have gone along the route of ‘the best laid plans’.
Last week’s reads:
Danse Macabre by Laura M Hughes – thank you Laura for redeeming my reading slightly! This is a dark novelette and my review will follow.

Currently reading:
- Blood Upon the Sand by Bradley P Beaulieu
- The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams
- The Winter Long by Seanan McGuire
Next week I’m hoping to complete two of the above! And, perhaps start In Calabria by Peter S Beagle.
And, finally, my cover compare this week is Danse Macabre by Laura M Hughes:
My favourite cover is this one:

I like the title font for this (which is also the same on the first cover) but I like the colour contrast too.
How was your week? What you currently reading?
12 February 2017
Iceland must be lovely! Would love to visit it one day.
I just started reading Little Girl Lost by Carol Wyer and I am enjoying it so far.
Hope you have a great week!
I hope you get a chance to get there.
I look forward to your thoughts on Little Girl Lost – thanks for stopping by. You have a great week too.
Lynn 😀
Thank you, Lynn!
I am enjoying it so far and have a feeling that more than one person isn’t who we think they are *rubs chin*
‘Curiouser and curiouser’!
Lynn 😀
With scenery like the one you show with that picture, it’s totally understandable how books might move toward the back burner… 🙂
Yeah, it’s not that type of holiday at all – much more checking out the view than chilling next to a pool.
Iceland! Cool. Love the photo.
Thanks – it’s a very photogenic place – it even makes my pictures look good!
Iceland sounds very exotic to a California girl! I love your photo of a geyser, just beautiful. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the Ninth Rain. And I hear really good things about In Calabria.
It’s a very stunning place. Feels like one huge photo opportunity because every picture you take ends up looking really dramatic.
Ninth Rain – so far so good. Coming up to 20% in and enjoying it – quite different from The Copper Cat series so far.
Lynn 😀
Iceland sounds wonderful – it’s not surprising that your reading patterns have gone peelie-wallie. I’m looking forward finding out what you think about Blood upon the Sand.
I’m just over 50% in with that one now – I’ve also picked up the Jen Williams which I’m enjoying so far.
Yes – that’s one I really want to get.
Ah, I noticed there was a break in your commenting and figured you were on vacation somewhere…Iceland though, nice! I envy your travels to all these cool places 🙂
Haha – it certainly was ‘cool’ – I guess the name gives it away (although to be perfectly honest it wasn’t much colder than the UK – us Northerners are used to the cooler climates!
Lynn 😀
I hope you enjoyed your trip! I’m not a vacation reader so I completely understand.
Well, I suppose going to a completely different country and then failing to see any of it because you have your nose stuck in a book does render the whole experience a little pointless. 😀 Of course, if i’m just searching out the perfect balcony, some sunshine and a long drink – then bring on the books!
I think you can be forgiven for reading less when you’ve been on a trip to Iceland! I am currently reading The Butterfly Summer by Harriet Evans and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I hope you are able to catch up on your reading this week 🙂
I hope you’re enjoying those – I’ve always wanted to get to Two Cities so I look forward to your review of that in particular.
Lynn 😀
Novellas are nice in they are quick and revitalize our reading. Hope you have a great week.
Thank you, my reading has been very slow this month! I hope it picks up.
Lynn D
Dang, Iceland! That’s amazing. I hope you had a great time, Lynn. That photo you took is really cool. Hopefully your small break from reading means you’ll come back with a vengeance! 😀
Haha – yes. Iceland was a great break thanks.
Lynn 😀
